Hello all,

Looking got a bit of help please! My husband (US petitioner) tried to expedite our application yesterday. He called 1-800-375-5283 and the operator asked his reason - at that point, he was denied.

I was under the impression all petitioners email their expedite request over?

Most grateful for any guidance! Thank you!

Specific requirements apply to Expidite requests.. and you need to fall into one particular category e.g. humanitarian, financial hardship, health etc . requests are sent in writing to nvcexpedite@state.gov

Note, Expidite requests are dealt with by the embassy overseas, if the embassy is closed due to this virus it may not be processed..

What did he say his reason was?

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Typically the first step is a phone call to explain the reason for the expedite.  If they think it is a valid reason, they'll ask you for documents via email, then make a final decision based on the documents submitted.  It sounds like what happened in your case is that the reason given for the expedite was not on the approved list, so they said the request was denied.  Nothing more you can do except wait for the normal process to go on as usual.  Good luck!
