My wife left on her first visit after her 1st (2 year) green card.  She left on Feb 21 and now she with her countries rules and the US rules she could be over there for more than 6 months.  Was going to write a letter to my regional office explaining everything.  What sort of trouble or problems will  we be in if she is indeed out of the country for more than 6 months?  Currently I've extended her ticket to October making it a 8 month stay...thanks

I know the UK has announced rescue flights https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/30/uk-announces-75m-airlift-plan-to-rescue-britons-stranded-abroad

Quote

The government has announced a £75m airlift operation to rescue hundreds of thousands of British nationals stranded abroad because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The foreign secretary, Dominic Raab, announced a mixture of charter flights to “priority countries” and affordable seats on commercial airlines from countries where they are still running.

I find it very difficult to believe the US is not doing something similar, has she checked with the US Embassy?.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

To little too late.  Ukraine shutdown the airspace on March 27 after the last sweeper flight departed.   No more repatriation flights are planned.

YMMV

Visits <6 months are unquestioned.  Visits <1 year are allowed.  Under the circumstances your wife will be fine, don’t worry

No need to call anyone else

Not a realistic scenario at this time.  Why scheduled for so long?  We have tickets for June and September and not so concerned about it at this time.  Any restrictions will likely be lifted by May/June time frame.

She will be fine. When she comes back, just tell her to say corona virus happened. And btw, she will not be questioned. She has a green card.
