NVC timeline on IR-1/CR1 visas

Sigh

Called the NVC today again. Our IV fee bill has not been processed yet. Now they say it will take 2-3 weeks, up from 10-15 days when I called last Wednesday.

So obviously the DS-230 hasn't been generated yet.

All this boils down to is another week we have to wait.

I hate them so much right now I can't put it into words.

Cheer up! The time frames given by the telephone oerators are completely meaningless. When I questioned (Gently! ) an operator once as to how reliable they were, she quite disarmingly said "Well, we are supposed to say two to three weeks." Call again tomorrow morning, and on Wednesday morning, and on... (Sometimes the automated message updates happen on days other than Monday night.)

Yea, I made up my mind to call call and call. I really wasn't expecting the IV Bill to hold us up so much This has me really depressed.

Hah, on a side note, I had a dude come into my store where I work today to get passport pictures taken for his citizenship interview I wished him good luck and we commiserated about how much USCIS sucks. It was fun.

In my case, the IV BIll entered into system Aug.6,2007 message has changed wednesday night(Aug.8). The following week monday (Aug.13) was expecting of the DS230 generated message, but, automated message said we have missing docs. , so, my husband made a follow up call with a live operator at the NVC and found out that our missing document is the DS230 and that the form was sent Aug.13. My husband waited for the real form though I already sent the packet using JSC on Aug.14. And on friday Aug. 17, my husband received a letter from NVC but with a surprised that there was no document not even the DS230 coversheet. The letter contain the same thing as the automated message said, plus submit all the missing documents to proceed with further processing. STRANGE......that the NVC did not send the real packet????????????Now, waiting for the message CASE COMPLETE.

Well I called the NVC today - they are sending a checklist - the auto message said: We have sent you a letter as we found info missing or incomplete on your financial evidence - mailed a checklist letter on august 20th for correction, please return this information to the NVC in Portsmouth New Hampshire.

I called and they said I didn't answer the domicile question (I did but I guess they didn't like my answer perhaps?) and they don't like my income amounts for the last 3 years. Will await the checklist to see what's up - oh well! Don't mean to get off topic here as this is the timeline - just thought I would share the info

By the way, if you sent your payment by money order, then depending which company issued the money order, you may be able to track whether it has been paid yet. Look for an 800 number on the receipt stub or go to the company's website.

I keep going back to this but I see no number on my money order that I could call to see if it has been paid yet. I got mine from Bank of America.

Hmm, yes, it is taking a bit long. How did you mail it to them? I mean if you used overnight mail, this includes tracking and then at least you know that it was delivered and somebody signed for it. And with that record you could put some pressure on NVC to investigate why they haven't managed to present the money order for payment yet. It's been almost three weeks and that's quite long even by NVC's standards.

As to tracking your money order, have you tried customer service of Bank of America and asked whether they can track your money order? There must be some mechanism to do that because it's also possible to cancel a money order and get the money refunded (there's a fee, of course, and it takes time).

I know the waiting is nerve-wracking and quite frustrating. Hang in there.

PS: I got my money order at the local Safeway store, and I only found out later that one could actually track when it had been paid. I would recommend that people only buy trackable money orders -- for any purpose, not just for the NVC.

I overnighted it, with signature, etc. They got it August 3 and someone signed for it. So I KNOW they have it. I just don't know why they haven't processed it

I'll try going to my branch tomorrow or calling and seeing if they can tell me if the damn thing can be tracked. I didn't think to get it tracked, but I need to know And then if it hasn't been paid out, I'll call the NVC and yell at them.

Thanks for the help. I just don't know why it takes so long.
