I've understood that when your I-864 and DS-230 have both been entered into the system it means that NVC is complete? What happens between them both being in the system and NVC completing them?

I think what he refers to is the official receipt date of the DS-230 as it was entered into NVC's database. The DS-230 still has to be processed then which typically takes about a week or two, unless they should find a problem.

NVC just entered my DS230 in their system on Aug 15th.

The NVC's automated system will say that your case has been completed. I don't know how long it takes for them to forward it to the Islamabad embassy. You can call them each week to find out.

When NVC is done, the automated message will be "Your case was completed on ... Please allow eight weeks for further instructions...". I'm not sure whether the message changes when the case file has actually been transferred to the US consulate. In fact, that's what I'd like to find out right now myself since that's the where our case is right now. However, you may always call the NVC line and talk to an operator. With very few exceptions, I found them to be very friendly and they will tell you if it has been transferred. If that hasn't happened yet, however, they will not tell you when it will be transferred. Instead they will just give you the standard phrase "two to three weeks" (which I take to be code-speak for "with one of the next shipments") since they are not allowed to make predictions on an applicants case.

Hello, I am new on this site. My approval was 07-11-07 and the case is by the NVC. I also received a number.I have a lawyer and I do not know if we need this -agent- to speed up the time a bit, or can a lawyer do it. When I have filed all the papers than it will go to Frankfurt, were I have to give in the I-601. Is here somebody in a situation like me. And please can somebody help me to update all this. If you have a lawyer than, he/she is your agent, you can still use the shortcuts to speed up the process. Call NVC and e-mail or print out and mail the DS-3032 giving your lawyer as your agent. The rest is up to your lawyer (your agent), he/she will have to send in all the requested docs and forms. I hope you already signed all the forms.

One step away from Case being Completed at NVC

DS-230 entered in NVC system: Aug 15, 2007

When they enter it into the system, doens't it mean that it's been accepted and that there won't be any RFEs? I've understood that when your I-864 and DS-230 have both been entered into the system it means that NVC is complete? What happens between them both being in the system and NVC completing them?

I think what he refers to is the official receipt date of the DS-230 as it was entered into NVC's database. The DS-230 still has to be processed then which typically takes about a week or two, unless they should find a problem.

Do you have any idea how long the waiting time is right now from receiving the case until interview in Frankfurt

Well, look at our timeline below. We are currently waiting for our case to be transferred to Frankfurt. They seem to be fairly quick in scheduling interviews and we expect an interview date somewhere around mid-September to end of September. Overall, our case has been moving along briskly without any delays; I would guess this should give us an idea about the lower end of the waiting time. (Bear in mind, however, that we used James's shortcuts; I estimate that we shaved off about 3-4 weeks from the total time.) So my guess would be that if there are no problems along the way, you can look at 90-120 days from the time NVC assigns the case number to the interview in Frankfurt. (As of today, our case is on its 69th day with NVC.)

Got IV bill. No big news, but thought I could BUMP this thread :whistle:

CR-1 Timeline

March'07 NOA1 date, case transferred to CSC

June'07 NOA2 per USCIS website!

Waiver I-751 timeline

July'09 Check cashed.

Jan'10 10 year GC received.
