NVC timeline on IR-1/CR1 visas

Just curious: I'm puzzled by Jasmin's entry in the list where the NOA2 date is actually later than the DS-3032/I-864 date. How is this possible? Is this an error, or a mail snafu? (I went back through the thread to look for an explanation; couldn't find anything, but since I did it rather quickly, it's possible that I missed it.)

I don't know the exact details abotu her case. But what has happened is that the USCIS never sent her an e-mail with a NOA2 approval. In most cases such an e-mail is sent, but sometimes they mess it up. Furthermore her approval snail mail happened to be so much delayed that the NVC got her case first and sent her the DS-3032/I-864 mail, which arrived prior to her NOA2 mail. Basically she was just unlucky twice in a sense, since she didn't get any information from her approval on time. Thus the illogical dates.

If available, wouldn't it be better to use that date for the list then? Even if off by a few days, it still would give a better picture than the date presently in the list. (Not a big deal, of course; I'm just a bit concerned about the reliability of the data in the list.)

Yeah, Jasmin actually made an educated guess at some point about her timeline. She estimated that she was approved around a month before she got the letter. This estimate sounds sensible to me too, since it tends to take around one month from the approval date to recieve the DS-3032 and I-864.

The problem with this thread is that it's always poorly up-to-date, because people don't update their timelines. I'm currently sure that at least the timelines of severinep, Richisusie, Singh77, sjmartins, Yocasta, Brian & Elena, khanshahid, micky-sabry and virt are not up-to-date. Sadly, there's very little I can do about this problem. I have previously removed those who haven't updated their profiles/timelines in six months, those who had indicated some delays in their visa prosess and those who have said that they won't give their timelines (e.g. via their profiles). I have been thinking about putting a four month limit to it, meaning that after four months of the last updated date of a "step" in the timeline I'll remove the member from it, since an un-updated timeline is clearly of little use to us who use this page as an information source. I'm always happy to hear some suggestions though, I really dunno what to do :unsure: ...

.... I'm always happy to hear some suggestions though, I really dunno what to do ...

Well, for the integrity of the data, I think it is okay if you use your best judgment in removing stale timelines that haven't been kept up to date and replace obviously erroneous dates by reasonable estimates. After all, if the members affected by this are still around, they will let you know if you make a mistake which you then can easily correct. Seems much more sensible to me to do it this way than carrying a lot of timelines that simply distort the picture.

Hi guys!

It was pretty much just as Stabu explained:

I finally called NVC to see if they had any record of my case, and they did and had actually send out the DS-3032 already. So I called USCIS but in their system my case was still pending. But they eventually fixed but and said my approval date was June 22. But, as Stabu said, I guess it was actually approved 3-4 weeks before that.

If you guys want, you can change that date. I wouldn't mind.
