Hi,

I was wondering for all those that have gone through the US Embassy in Cairo, Egypt...if anyone had any issues with age gaps where the man is younger than the woman by 10 years or more. What documentation will assist us...was anyone rejected for this reason? Does age play a role in it? We have been together for 4 years, met each others parents by phone...met in person 3 times for 3 weeks at a time and have millions of phone records, emails, snail mailings and chat logs. We have pics from meetings and solid proof of meeting as well as enough finances to back it I134. In the originial I129 I included a bit more detail addressing our age gap in the response to question 18 on meeting in person. Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Faith

I don't know of anyone who has been denied through Cairo due to an age gap. I'm sure someone will help out though when they see this. Egypt isn't famous for denying people, just for being super slow. I think it's good that you addressed it up front though since if the USCIS approved it with that knowledge and if, God forbid, it gets denied and sent back, you can use that to your benefit.

Good luck!

Thank you so much. We just sent off our papers this week and are a bit anxious and nervous. I tried to document every thing and cross my t's and dot my i's. Im hoping all i included was enough. I know I will send lots more to him before his interview and we plan on meeting again in August. Second time this year...4th meeting in all. WE will get loads more pics and more evidence of this on going relationship. Thank you for the response.

Thanks JMS...so what are the reasons they can put you into AR if I may ask. If they do that and it extends your time...do they tell you the reason?

Congratulations on getting your I129f sent off!! I am so jealous lol i wish i was going to Egypt this year! I hope you will have fun. And when you get put on A/P ( Administrative Processing) It is for the Embassy to conduct further security checks which can take anywhere from 1-6 months or longer in most cases going through Cairo the majority of people recieve there visa's in 6 months. There are some cases where it can be longer. i wish you all the best on your journey!!!

WOW 6 months on average?? (Vermont Service Center is where we start) Either way, we are ready for the long haul. If we get it that fast we will thank Allah for His blessings. But we are ready with planned trips and all sorts of things to mark off our time for up to a year. Im sure it wont take that long, but we decided to plan for the worst and expect the best. Im nervous and so is he. But we KNOW what we have is real and are so excited after almost 4 years of being together. I admire all of you that have gone through this. I spent 2 years reading up and learning the ins and outs of Immigration for this and reading here so much...finally decided it was time to join. I've heard age differences as ours can raise a red flag but im sure thats more in the case if we had JUST met recently or didn't have much documentation.

Has anyone gone through the interview in Cairo lately? What types of questions did they ask? What should my SO be prepared to show, give and do. Will they ask about our ages? Or even want him to justify? This place is awesome...thanks in advance for the support and advice.

Salam Alaikum,

Faith

I can't speak for her but I would say the average is 6 months from the date of your interview. Sorry I know that sucks but who knows...you could be that one that's off the charts. :)

Sorry for the confusion i mean that after your fiance has his interview and when A/p has started it can take 1-6 months for him to recieve his visa after the interview. But as Doodlebug stated hopefully by then you things will be different at Cairo and its not as long of a wait for you!

To answer your other questions they could ask your fiance anything so just be prepared. They can ask various different questions it just all depends on who interview him. My fiance was asked when was the last time he seen me?, What did we do when i visited him in Egypt?, How old are my kids, When did i get divorced? and there were 2 other's I can't remember though. After the interview if everything went well your fiance will have to pay 48 L.E. to DHL which is the courier who will deliver him his visa once A/P is finished. Just be prepared and make sure your fiance has all the proof of your ongoing relationship sometimes they will ask to see it and sometimes they don't. The Officer interviewing my fiance never asked to see the prrof of our ongoing relationship but every office is different. I am not sure if they will ask you about your age or not they coul. I am sure everything will be just fine. I hope this helped

Always helps to know what to expect or know what someone else went through. Thank you so much. I did make sure to include pics and documentation of all three trips even though one was outside the 2 year range. I also included emails, phone records and such from all three years (just samples) and i included our inbox summary of ALL the emails we mailed over the last 3.5 years. My parents also wrote a notorized letter stating they testified to our on going relationship and that my three trips were for the purpose of being with him in person. Also that they approved of the marriage and had spoken to him often on the phone over the years.

I guess there are many reasons and other members can tell you more, but some are name problems that need furthername checks, sometimes they suspect the relationship and want to get more info or documentation. As in our reason, a discrepancy in a prior application for a visitor visa.
