hi all,

I tried to find a topic similar to my situation but it seems that I did not search enough and I need an answer desperately.

we applied for k1 in 2018. got my conditional green card last year.

I was laid off work last week.

my question is: if I apply for unemployment, will that affect my petition to remove conditions this year? ( In case they consider me as financially not able )

thank you and I promise I will take care of my profile and fill everything but we are experiencing bad days and we cannot hire an attorney..

Unemployment is not related to or considered in immigration cases

ROC does not have a public charge step or review.  Conditions are based on marriage validity.

thank you for the response.

now my supervisor is telling me that he was in the same situation about 10 years ago but he couldn't file for unemployment while on conditional residence. I guess it's either he did not know more info or laws changed...

The laws haven't changed so either he didn't know or he wasn't eligible.

That has never been the case.
