Does an SBA disaster relief loan count as “public charge”

Hi,

I have a small business and I’m considering applying for an SBA disaster relief loan because of forced shutdowns in my area. I can’t work because my business is considered non-essential during the coronavirus pandemic.

I’m worried that an SBA loan could be seen as part of the new public charge rule. Could receiving a loan like this cause problems with immigration?

Thank you,

John

if this money that we are all to get counted as a pubic charge,  we all would fall under that catergory

so,  no,  this is a stimulus bill to help USA get back on its feet during and following a series crisis

Thanks for your reply.

Just to be clear, I’m referring to a Small Business Administration Loan for businesses that suffer economic injury during this time.

I understand that almost everyone will get a stimulus check, but the SBA Loan is for businesses and are  something that has to be applied for. That makes me wonder if it might be looked upon as being a negative when we go to our interview because we had to apply for help from the government.

Thank you for posting this question and to those who replied.

I had the same question and was going to post it, but this answers my question.

Yes, I was worried because the business loan is different than the stimulus checks that most people will receive. Good luck!
