Speaking of Cuomos, Chris Cuomo tested positive and is now quarantined. https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/31/media/chris-cuomo-coronavirus/index.html

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery for him and all the others suffering from the illness. In these times, our best wishes for improving and continued health should transcend party lines.

We were watching Cuomo on CNN and my husband made the comment "now he sounds like a president".  I hadn't thought about it but I had to agree.  Anything better than our choices.  I am not pro-Trump at all.  But I don't want Biden either.  There are no good options in my opinion.  I never post in this forum but wanted to timidly take a step inside.  lol.

Thanks.  I read you guys all the time and you are pretty rough on each other.  lol.  But I am bored out of my mind from staying home and decided to join in.

I can't believe the stuff that comes out of Trump's mouth.  And Biden is no better.  So what do I do come election time?  This will be my husband's first time voting since becoming a citizen.  He doesn't know what to do either.

Thanks.  Yes I am a woman.  And Oliver is my dog.  lol.

I have never been particularly political.  But this crisis has opened my eyes to how messed up everything is.  And how much we need leadership that we are not getting.  Florida needs a shelter in place order.  But DeSantis will never do it because he is a Trump guy.  Would Biden do a better job than Trump?  I don't know.  I have not been impressed by what I have seen.  But I would not want Bernie either.

I have lots of time on my hand to ponder these questions.  I am off work and my husband is only on the schedule two days these weeks.  So we spend a lot of time discussing these issues.  And wandering around the house saying "are you bored?  Yeah me too."

It's hard. I was (am!) a Warren supporter and voted for her in the primary, like most of my friends and family who are Democrats. I am okay with Bernie, for the most part, in terms of his policy but I am a capitalist so there are some aspects of his platform that I'm uncomfortable with. I don't like Biden. He was fine as Uncle Joe when he was VP and didn't have much real power. But I find his mindset out of touch and looking back towards a mythical American paradise that we supposedly had in the Obama years. We need to look forward to a thriving and modern America that responds nimbly to new challenges. We only need to look at what's happening now to see how being proactive and forward thinking can save lives and the economy potentially.

At the same time, I cannot in good conscience vote for Trump. It is simply impossible for me, and I will not get into the whys and wherefores because I don't feel like getting roasted today. So I am in a similar bind. However, I do think Biden is a more moral person than Trump, who I think is an amoral rather than immoral person. I will probably hold my nose and vote for Biden because he is the only viable alternative to Trump, who I think is not the right person for these times. Or really at all, but I am trying to be kind.

My fiance and I are political junkies, and he has gotten swept up into paying attention to American politics since he moved here at the end of 2017. We talk politics alllllll the time, lol. We are generally aligned on most things, but there are differences. I tend to be a little more conservative in terms of the expansion of the social safety net (but not by much), and he thinks the death penalty is fine in truly heinous murder cases, and I do not support it, ever. But on the big stuff we agree, so one of our pleasures is talking about how we would fix everything if given the chance.

The two party system sucks, and we all know it. And it desperately needs a change. But this election is too big to throw away a vote on a third party. I think both parties think that. Personally I think the rise of Biden out of an interesting and varied field speaks to how freaked out everyone is about trying something new and risky in very, very choppy waters. Biden is a known quantity, for all of his many faults. I don't excuse it, it's more an explanation for myself to understand why it happened.

And WELCOME!!! And doggo pics are always welcomed in the derailment exempt thread so show us Oliver!!! :P

On a positive note Biden's podcast is available on vinyl.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

The only problem with that thought is Cuomo unequivocally said no.  Trump is not the best when it comes to speaking, but he is good at cutting through bureaucracy.  Heck, just a few weeks ago, we were way behind in testing, and now we have tested more people than any other country (roughly 1.3 million first time tests as of yesterday), and this will only increase with more testing options coming online.  I am looking forward to the antibody test as this may help getting a more accurate picture of the actual severity of this virus.

Anyway, welcome to VJ CEHST.

Ok as requested here is my baby Oliver.  I have to put it in two posts.  This is four month old Oliver right after he came back from the ER with a broken.  He had stolen a roll of toilet paper and was racing across the bed and fell off.  He looks so pitiful here.  He is a grown up four year old now.  Will post that pic next.
