out of US on AP while AOS is pending, currently self isolating due to virus (split topic)

I’m glad someone made this post. I don’t want to hijack someone else’s thread, but I notice that a lot of the time mods merge posts together when they’re similar so hopefully I’m just saving something the trouble. I’m in Canada on AP with a pending AOS application. I’ve been here since January just visiting my family with my kids. I was planning to go back within the next week or so, but now I’m self isolating and staying put.
 

I know that I can return as the spouse of a US citizen, but the Canadian government has advised not to travel back to the US. Where I live in WA state is also a hot spot for COVID-19. Abiding by immigration laws and not jeopardizing my application is extremely important to me, but I have two small kids to think about, and as a mother I have to do what I feel is best and keep them where we are as it is not as rampant as where we live. 
 

If we are still having to self isolate in a few months and this carries on until later this year, would I have trouble at POE if I end up staying up here for more than 6 months waiting this thing out? Surely they won’t penalize anyone for not wanting to travel while this is going on. It’s not like I’d be staying here for so long if we weren’t experiencing a global health crisis.
