Ahhh I was under the impression that you need to create an account with CEAC account first to get to form Ds-160. The very first thing that the travel.state.gov website states after getting the petition approved....

@SumayyahS has explained it very well and I concur.

K1 is a immigrant visa treated as a non immigrants visa because of the conditions are based upon marriage after arrival. They kind of group us with spousal with some differences. So you will get a lot of messages that really pertain to CR-1 (automated). You don’t need to create a account just go to the ceac site and complete the DS 160 under non immigrant. You can also check the status of your case with your number just make sure to select immigrant when doing it. It’s all in the pdf as well.

The thing is, I know how to track. the actual tracking states "AT NVC - Please follow the instructions you received from the National Visa Center (NVC) that list the six steps you must take before NVC can schedule your visa interview appointment. This includes submitting to NVC various fees, forms and documents."

The google doc is great but it just didn't answer my questions.

  • Where and how do I submit a copy of affidavit of support?
  • Where do I pay the fees
  • schedule a medical exam?

The Doc just glosses over these implying that nothing needs to be done between getting the NVC tracking number/invoce ID number and setting up for the interview.

My problem was that I was provided my tracking number but not aware that I needed an invoice id number as well. luckily I just called in and was given my invoice id number. I was also informed that because of the pandemic that The embassy would be sending out notifications/letters as soon as they open up, as a courtesy I was provided my information by the NVC rep anyways.

-The affidavit of support is given to your fiancé to take to the interview

-payment depends on the individual embassy. If you make an account ustravel docs and learn how or just check out your embassy’s page.

-exams also depend on the individual embassy as well. you can look up the board panel physicians for your embassy (I found mine my embassy’s travel.gov page) and call or send a email.

we are entering the point where the process is not uniform anymore. Procedures vary from country to country. So we just have to research and find people who have timelines similar to us to share information. There are also other good country specific or region specific forums on here to use as well. Hope this helps some.

This is embassy specific... Some embassies require you send it to them first in response to P3 while some want you to bring it to the interview... I recommend that @BandQand contact @Greenbaumand humbly ask for a copy of P3 for Vietnam to know exactly which documents to prepare and what to do with them.

I advocate to people that you are interviewing at an embassy and the embassy has their personal instructions on how they will process the K-1 visa. If you or ANYONE else goes to their embassy's website there is information that will help in the processing of your visa. Now I have done some of the heavy lifting for you now you need to do the rest. Here are the instructions on what to do.

“The U.S Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City has received your K visa application for processing.  You should download the instruction package on our website at   https://vn.usembassy.gov/packet3k for information on how to apply for a K visa to the United States.  Please read and follow the instructions carefully.

Your case is filed under your name and case number as shown below.   When communicating with this office either in person or through the online inquiry form at   https://vn.usembassy.gov/ivcontact, please provide your name and case number exactly as shown in this letter.    If you wish to update your personal information, please follow the instructions at: https://vn.usembassy.gov/ivupdate.”

@Greenbaum not sure if I got the profile/timeline done right, but I tried to set it up.

Got NOA2 on 4/24. Tried step 1 on the PDF and got a reply on 5/5 that they had not received my file yet. Going to try and call tomorrow to get the case number. Anything else I am missing?

Also, do you have the P3 for my case?

Thanks

Profile looks good. Thanks. Now I know which P3 to send you.

Here is the letter that you will receive from Mumbai Embassy. Read it over carefully and follow the instructions. Another member of VJ added some additional information contained below which outlines what he experienced.

Once you received your case number from NVC,  I would recommend you fill out the DS-160 form and submit. Some say the packet 3 letter is nothing just a waste of time the same thing they have mention which you easily get from the USCIS website when you called the clinics to book your medical appointment date they will ask you have you received your packet letter or not. Just say yes and booked the appointment date however you will receive that letter within 2 weeks the day you will get your NVC number.

Go on the USCIS website make your account with a password and then pay your fees to Citibank or Axis bank. They will give you a reference number. With that number, you can book your biometric and interview appointment date. The fees are 18,500 and for medical but I recommend that you carry 20,000 with you in the event you need more. Be sure to keep at least 7 days gap between medical and interview.

The website address for Hyderabad is

Here is a topic in another forum where those from the Mumbai Consulate are applying with good information.

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you, I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

Both of these link to a P4. Is that correct? Is there no P3 here?

The signifier P3 and P4 are sometimes interchangeable according to each embassy. A P3 is a list of documents needed for the interview and that is what was given in the links I provided. Follow the links to what is needed for your embassy. See if there is more on the embassy website. Share with me if things that you find are different or could help others. Good luck and stay engaged.

This is an update from the US embassy in Pristina. It states they have suspended all, but emergency appointments for all visa applications. See snapshots below.

My dad has stage four lung cancer. I am the head of the household. Would this curcumstance qualify as an immediate relatives grave illnes, under bullet point (a), or not since my father technically is not my fiancees immediate relative? The point is that It would help to have my fiancee here with us in order to help out with my dad's doctors appointments, errands, and translation needs.

Anyone can ask for their case to be expedited but must follow certain criteria. If accepted or denied neither have an impact on any other process toward a visa.

  1. For USCIS refer to https://www.uscis.gov/forms/forms-information/how-make-expedite-request
  2. For NVC they expedite K-1 visas already.
  3. For Embassies, an expedited request requires you to contact them either through email or a phone call. Most embassy don't grant expedited visas but only in the case of an emergency. Check with your embassy for additional details.

Chapter 5 - Requests to Expedite Applications or Petitions

Benefit requestors may request USCIS to expedite the adjudication of their applications or petitions. USCIS considers all expedite requests on a case-by-case basis and generally requires documentation to support such requests. The decision to grant or deny an expedite request is within the sole discretion of USCIS.

NVC and your Embassy. NVC won't send it unless the embassy request it.

Hi All, just wanted to say that it doesn't look like anything has been sent to London UK Embassy this week either, our case is reporting still at NVC.  Fingers crossed for next time.
