You asked a lot of questions so let's do this one bite at a time. No problem with many questions, I just need to know who the players are so I can match their jersey numbers to my program.

Who is the petitioner and who is the beneficiary? I'm assuming the petitioner is a USC. Answer those two questions and I can move on and answer with some certainty.

Hey! thank you. So i am the beneficiary from the UK I’m morgan and Stacey is the USC from Puerto rico the petitioner.

Proposed - December 22nd 2019

Week 4.5/6 still nothing. Getting concerned.

Have you tried calling the NVC? They received our petition Monday April 27th and we are still waiting on the case number. Our NOA2 was just a few days after yours so I am sure we will be getting the case numbers soon. The guy I talked to also told me it could take closer to the 6 weeks because of reduced staff. Hang in there we will all get through this! 😃

@Greenbaum

Hey! Thanks for all your help up to now!

I have a question about a few things regarding the case number. I do have Aspergers so sometimes just asking direct is my best way to figure out information so sorry in advance!

I have my case number, and I believe it was maybe issued 24th April using your PDF. I have tried to do the DS-160 although the problem I have is it says 'Address Where You Will Stay in the U.S.' Now, my fiancée is planning on moving back to Puerto Rico in mid June so I was wondering what I should put here. If you will be living in PR then put that address.

Her current address which I know I will not be at? or an address in PR which would be her father address where we will also not 100% be staying at? (We will be getting an apt together which she will move into before I move. Use your future FIL's address until you get your own address then change it with all new document submittals once you are in the "states" or PR.

My second question is  I have already got my birth certificate ready, but I need to get a ACPO Police certificate. Should I get this now and get the ball rolling? I believe it needs to be within the past 6 months (maybe I am wrong?) but I should hopefully have an appointment before NOVEMBER! You are always better off in getting the PC or any required document closes to the date of the interview to avoid any hiccups. Six months is a good yardstick to use.

Lastly, when is it we can book medicals? I understand its when you have a case number but I believe they have to be within a certain time frame to when the interview is and given the current circumstances we are unsure when interviews will be although I saw someone got one in London in July!  Medical appointments can be scheduled any time prior to the interview. Your visa expiration date (that's the last day you can land on US soil) is tied to your medical exam date. So, the closer to the interview the longer the validity. Normally six months from medical exam.

I appreciate the help in advance!!

Your welcome. Good luck and stay engaged.

there's really nothing to be concerned right now. Our embassy in Pristina is closed anyway so getting the case number won't mean much. Last time I called the lady said that my petition in in NVC but they haven't assigned a case # yet. She said that they are not shipping things to Pristina right now but she clarified that each embassy is changing their status daily.

they started to open some businesses in Kosovo so hopefully they will open the US embassy to for interviews until then there's not much we can do anyway.

Best of luck!

The K1 validty is determined by the medical exam date. The medical is good for 6 months for the visa and 1 year for AOS after marriage.

I see! So, if the medical exam was today, I would have until November 6th to travel on K1.

Good to know! Thank you for this! :)

NVC said it'll take up to 6 weeks. Called USCIS to confirm if they shipped my petition, which they were unable to confirm, however, said to contact them if it's been longer than 60 days.

Only if you pass. If there are any complications like TB then it can be delayed. Best recommendation I can give is to wait. But your free to get up and travel about the cabin.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journey

I’m definitley going to hold off until i know more about when the embassies open, the very LOOSE plan is middle of september if all goes well for the move, if not a little later. Things are looking good and i saw in the UK forum people are managing to get interviews end of june, start of July currently but i guess the demand for interviews will go up soon! i shall wait until the embassy have my petition and then start doing stuff :)

thanks!

Just venting a bit with a real question as a follow up:

I was furloughed from my job 4 weeks ago - okay, it's happening across the board. I was upset, but I get it. At least there's something to look forward to down the line...

Today, I was permanently let go because they do not foresee our business opening up before next spring (I'm in a very niche field), therefore they done want to give me false hope in case something else comes along.

Should I be worried about our visa and the lack of new income streaming in?

Hey! I am sorry to hear that... we are in such crazy time and every business tries to cope with the situation in different ways. Try to stay strong and positive!

I don't think it will be an issue. At the end of the day, you have the I-134 to prove that your fiancé(e) will be able to support you. Moreover,  you have been working up until now and we are experiencing a unique situation which is out of the ordinary. I wouldn't worry too much, but make sure to have everything in place when it comes down to the I-134 and a potential joint sponsor.

Unfortunately, we are in a new normal here. Things can only get better. I hope people wake up and see what China is doing around the world with their exploits. If we learn from that this will all be for naught. When things are back you will find employment and you will continue to piece together with your fiancé a nice life together. Put your heart and soul into the relationship now as it will pay dividends down the road.

The only income that the CO at the interview is concerned with is that of the USC. If they have income that is above the poverty line, then you'll be ok. If you think not, then find a cosponsor that can help you through this time. The cosponsor will need the same requirements as the USC. I've listed those at the end of this post.

Another person in another thread was concerned about her fiancé who is a teacher and had lost his job. But one week later he was offered another teaching position with another school. So, things can work out. Good luck and stay engaged.

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT: You must submit any evidence which will show that you and members of your family who will accompany you are not likely to become public charges while in the United States. Visa petitioner (US Citizen) will have to complete form I-134. If the petitioner does not qualify as a sponsor, a Joint-Sponsor should ALSO be presented (any US Citizen living in the US or Legal Permanent Resident), who will also have to complete form I-134. Both, the Sponsor (Petitioner) as well as the Joint-Sponsor, will have to present last year's income tax return transcripts. W2 form and proof of current and sustainable income (e.g. letter of employment on letterhead including salary and start date, most recent salary receipts, bank accounts, the value of properties, etc.). You may download the I-134 affidavit at https://www.uscis.gov/i-134 Get the IRS transcript in place of the actual 1040 here: https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript Use this link to determine the income levels needed https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p. Also, the new requirement from most embassies is to complete the DS-5540. https://eforms.state.gov/Forms/ds5540.PDF. This form is completed by the beneficiary and never by a co-sponsor.
