Hi,

I submitted my I-130 back in December (got IOE case and assigned to Nebraska), and today I was perusing through the USCIS website and saw that there was a mass transfer of I-130 cases to other service centers. So, I called USCIS just to see if my case was impacted. Low and behold it was, and it was transferred from Nebraska to Vermont. Looking at the processing times in Vermont they are so much more worse than in Nebraska. Also, I've read that "complex cases" or cases that require additional "scrutiny" go to Vermont. My case is a rather standard I-130 case for a CR-1 visa for my wife. Not sure there is any truth to that, but if so please comment!

I'm starting to get very anxious, not sure why my case ended up in Vermont, compared to Texas for example. And considering that Nebraska timelines are much better as per USCIS, it's even more odd to me.

Anyone out there have experience with Vermont? It seems it's a rather odd Service Center, as very few people are assigned there (looking through VJ). Who else was transferred this year, and have you noticed faster processing ?

Thank You!

Are you confusing the reasons an i129f transfers to Vermont?

Actually, no I am not. I am referring to the following:

"Transfers in 2020

We transferred some of the following cases from the Nebraska Service Center to the Potomac Service Center, the Texas Service Center, the California Service Center and the Vermont Service Center:

  • Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, IMMEDIATE RELATIVE PETITIONS

"

And as confirmed by USCIS today, they did infact transfer my I-130 from Nebraska to Vermont today.

Please reread.  I said are you confusing reasons for a petition transfer.   A complicated i129f is often transferred to Vermont, don't confuse that with an i130.

YMMV

Ah, got it. Then yes, in this case I may be confusing reasons which don't apply for an I-130 petition. Sorry about that! I'm new to this, so I'm not sure what all these petitions are or the circumstances in which they may be transferred. But thank you for clarifying!

I do wonder if anyone has any ideas on why they would send USC 1-130 petitions from Nebraska to Vermont when the processing times are so much longer than they are in Nebraska. But the. Again, I don't see to many people on VJ that have been processed out of Vermont, so not sure what the driving factor for the long wait times are. Wish I was lucky enough to be sent to Texas SC. Anyway, does anyone have any theories on this?
