That's why I suggested Yahoo comments. I notice a lot of hyperbolic and/or fallacious arguments every time I click on one of thos articles. Car accident fatility rates are a significant discussion worth having. The attempts to compare them to Covid-19 death rates is nonsense, and most people see it as such. As you have been fond of saying on a few occassions, apples and oranges.

Dead is dead.  Maff is NEVER wrong, unless one does it the wrong way.  WHY are we so focused on a few deaths by a new virus, and have had our economy plunged into distress over them?  Why not the so-many more who die from the flu?  And auto accidents?  And heart disease?  And cigarette smoking?  And breast cancer?   Why have THOSE millions of deaths never brought our country to its knees?  Why covid?  Why NOW???

You really shouldn't be visiting people now. Hugging and kissing is worse but you should stay at home as much as possible.

No.  I don't buy into the hysteria.  Neither do all the normal people I know.  And I happen to know a LOT of people in their later years, who are more likely to die if they get it.  But they are same, reasonable people, and they aren't afraid.  Why should I be?  Life must go on.  And it will.

I think we are addressing all of those things. They could be managed better obviously, but none of them are overwhelming the health care system at any given time like Covid-19 is right now. At the same time the long term risk of Covid-19 is not as bad as those other things. However they are not reacting to the long term risk of Covid-19. They are mitigating a short term risk tight now. Once the number of severe cases decreases below the threshold where we can keep up, or once an effective treatment or vaccine is developed, we won't even be having this discussion. The risk of Covid-19 will be evaluated just like any of the other risk factors, but it won't shut everything down like it is now.

It feels pointless to try to convince him. It's obvious he's doing his best to spread the virus. No conscience.

If you really think that, then you are crazy. I cannot spread the virus, because I do not have it.  Plain and simple.  People are walking more, talking more.  Outside.  Feets and feets away, as suggested.  Work has not stopped for everyone.  I haven't touched another human in weeks except my spouse.  What else would you have people do, never step foot outside their door?  That's asinine.  You can still be outside, at work, shop, and never be within 10 feet of another human.  It's actually pretty easy to do, unless you are in the medical profession right now.

I didn't go to work for 19 days.  Today, I had to.  I think that is pretty conscious.  Sorry if you don't see it that way.

When is the last time you were tested for Coronavirus?

You're visiting people. Enough said. There's no reasoning possible here if you don't realize why that's wrong.

It's nothing to really be funnin' about though. The market tanks, it's the natural cycle of how our economy structure works. So? You think it's supposed to be bulls forever? The higher you go the harder you fall. The signs were there before this happened. Pandemics have consequences, huge ones on every single level. It's why it's a good idea to be prepared and to fix the critical infrastructure before it's too late. I don't see it being ruined. There's a lot of other more fundamentally moral issues ruining our country than economic factors imo. Our ancestors survived far far worse even both economically and pandemic wise.  They must have thought it was the end of the world then too. Your 401k will recover. What good is the money if no one is alive to be spending it? It's going to be a long and difficult road, but have you ever stopped to think that your 'ruining the country' is panicked hype from your point of view? I have seen this past week, a tremendous amount of callous and downright stupid takes all over the internet about end of the world economics and a near-utilitarianist/marxist ideal that we must all suffer and die for the greater good of the economic health of the motherland. They are doing the same thing they claim to accuse others of and hate. It's disturbing... and I'm weary.

- Government shuts down economy

- "Natural cycle"

So are VERY MANY PEOPLE in the US.  There is no helping you understand why it's ok, if you are terrified because you are told to be.  Ever hear of the term "sheeple"?  It's ok not to be one.  Work is ok.  It's what keeps the economy going.  Taking to neighbors is ok.  It's what keeps people reassured, especially those who are not as capable of getting out on their own.  To each their own, eh?

Obviously many people in the US are doing, that's why the US is number one in cases.

I'm not sheeple, I'm responsible. I'm not terrified, I'm not just not selfish. I can sacrifice my own comfort so that other people will live.

So have many of us.  And yet, the virus persists.  For a little while.  And then, it will be gone.  As per normal.

I have gone shopping for a few neighbors who are older than me, the thought process being:

A) They are older than me, therefore more at-risk than me and my spouse`

2) The fewer people that are out buying necessities, the better

Look, we can do this for weeks.  I have dedicated my life to serving America.  I am not going to stop because of some weak-a$$ virus.  It will perish before we will.

I know you were feeling sick last week.  I hope you are better now.  If you need anything at all, feel free to PM me, and if we have it available locally, I will gladly send it to you.  We can have different takes on the matter, but in the end, all of us surviving is really what matters.  As I told SteelBallz, different regions have different supplies.  Maybe what is available here is not available to you, and vice-versa.  I'd rather help you than argue with you on here.  Sincerely.
