This is driving me crazy. Pretty simple I am sponsoring my spouse, my income is enough by itself, however I filed a joint tax return. I am getting my docs ready for interview. I have a few questions.

1. Do they want the I-864 that I sent to the NVC or a new one? I recently filed my taxes, the docs I sent to the NVC were using last years taxes.

2. My question is can I use form I-864EZ if I filed a joint return?

3. What do I put for total household income being that I filed a joint return? Do I subtract what she made or do I put the actual total from my return which includes her income?

Unless your spouses income is shown to continue when she resides in the US, you cannot include her income in meeting the financial commitment

Yes as long as you meet all 3 conditions for the EZ form

Spouse takes to the interview the original.. or scanned copy ..  of the 864 that you sent to NVC

Yes you can use the EZ if you joint file but you must demonstrate that your income alone is sufficient. Usually demonstrated  by your W2 forms

Thanks Lil bear, so for total household income I am putting just my income minus her income? I guess what confuses me the most is that it asks for a specific line on the instructions, but I am only using my own income. Thanks for the reply.

Exclude her income as it can’t be used .. your W2 is part of the transcript and should make the difference between the household income on the tax return and the income number on your 864 clear.
Should !!!

Make sure you print your current tax transcript to take with you to the interview, or to include with the I-864. They prefer a transcript that you can download for free from the IRS website, mine was available a few days after I filed, so I'm sure yours is there, unless you filed by mail, then it can take 2 weeks to show up online. It simplifies everything for them for review.
