So we are at the stage in the process where we paid the fees, submitted the Affidavit of Support Documents & Financial Evidence, etc. Now the NVC is processing our application and we are waiting to hear back to set up an interview and all.

My Canadian spouse seems to think that she is not allowed to visit me in the USA at this time (she's usually right 😁). Is that true? If not, is she not allowed to visit me at ANY point of the entire IR1 process?

Obviously the border is shut down right now due to COVID-19, but I'm asking for when things calm down.

Thanks!

She is wrong.

I thought spouses got a pass with the Corona lockdown.

Do you know if there's any point of the process where she won't be allowed to visit?

Spouses might be allowed to cross the border, I haven't looked that much into it. I visit her every 5 weeks or so, and my next trip was planned towards the end of April, so I was hoping the border would loosen up by then anyway.

Well once she has an immigrant visa in her passport they may insist on her immigrating rather than visiting.

Not sure much will change for the better in April.

Use of the Canada visitor privilege is not revoked based on any specific stage of the process, except AFTER the immigrant visa is IN the passport.
