Has anyone gotten their civil documents approved without translations? My wife case is being handled in Guatemala (spanish speaking country) I am at the point where I will be submitting her civil documents though CEAC. All her documents are in spanish. I called NVC and asked if I had to translate her documents and the representative told me if documents are in the language of the country where the case is being handled then no need to translate them. So I am wondering if I am safe to submit without translation?

You received an answer from the department who is responsible.   They make the rules.   They gave you the correct answer

YMMV

By that said you're implying not for NVC then?

For the consulate it is English or the official mother tongue of the country.   Anything else would require translation.  Guatemala would be English or Spanish.   A French document would require translation as an example

YMMV

Correct, but those instructions are clearly stated in the online submission instructions.  English or local language is OK at this stage.
