Because one of the requirements of a H1b is that the job requires a degree, so you are in a similar position to most nurses where to be a nurse does not require a degree. Even if many have one.

How do non-skilled workers get a visa to work in the states?

Well many do not, there is the temporary/seasonal option H2b, EB3 is the immigrant visa category which would fit you, comes with a Green Card.

With great difficulty, especially for anything more than a short term seasonal job. Most work visas are reserved for skilled occupations.

Okay, I will look into the EB3 visa.

I really want to find options in getting visa to make a change and try something different.

Thank you for taking time to help me out with your advice!

They are not eligible to sponsor.

Neither of those would be a qualifying relative to sponsor/petition somebody. It would need to be a spouse (most common here), parent, 21+ son/daughter, or sibling (although this is a ~15+ year wait).

Okay. I think the EB3, like you mentioned, would be my best route

Well, I don’t have any of that.

I think I’ll have to look into the EB3 visa

But isn’t the US really short on nurses? I thought it was listed as one of the occupations that does qualify for a work visa? I used to live close to the Canadian border (where I grew up) and knew a girl who was an RN and crossed the border every day to work at an American hospital.

Presumably she had a TN.
