DS5540 unemployed wife abroad

I am unemployed right now and we want to start 1-130 . Do you think would it be denied if I don’t have a job? It seems it is not enough for US citizen supporting the spouse anymore? Plus to that if I start working now will it help ?

You can use a joint sponsor when you get to the NVC, in about a year.

Yes, but they will most likely want a joint sponsor.

I am sorry I forgot to add I am the wife which doesn’t work .. my husband is working now but just started in the US

Work status does not matter for the beneficiary for sponsorship.  However it can be taken into consideration on the DS-5540 which is used to help determine your likelihood of becoming a public charge.

Yes it seems like it will be very important part for me to show that I can provide for myself according to public charge rule. 

I thought I have to work because of this.

You have plenty of time before that is filed.   The DS-5540 done at the NVC stage.

 

Your husband needs to take care of the taxes as listed on the I-130.

But he will also submit those after I-130 approves right ?

When it gets to the NVC.  In 10 to 12 months.

It is better to have the 3 years of taxes done before or it will slow down the process att USCIS.   You will get a RFE and add more months delay.
