Hi All,

I know these are some scary and unprecedented times for many of us, especially those of us going through immigration and away from our families at home. My current situation is this; I've applied for an AOS from F1 through marriage to a USC. We've received our NOA for the I-485, I-130, I-131, and I-765. We have not completed biometrics as of yet. Our NOA came just a little too late for us to squeak in before the 03/18 closings.

My OPT EAD has been issued and I have a job lined up (related to my degree) starting in April, that will hopefully be unaffected by the current climate. I have an SSN. With that said, I'm also a health care worker with a currently active license in the USA. Until now, I've strictly volunteered in this capacity, but with the current climate it will be all hands on deck soon. We've recently moved to a new state, and there are no volunteer opportunities in this capacity in our area. My degree is in Molecular and Cell Biology, and I'm sure people who are more creative than I could find a connection between that degree and working in health care (work on OPT has to be directly related to the degree), but in the interest of honesty I'm not sure I'm willing to do that.

Many of you are much more experienced in this than I am; is there any way to request an EAD expedite under these circumstances? This is less about the being paid and more about stepping up for my community in the coming weeks.

Thank you!!

What sort of health care provider license do you have? In the US, health care provider licensing processes are administered by individual state. If you have moved to a different state, you will need to look into what it takes to obtain a license in the new state.

I have seen recent new policies to fast-track nurses and doctors in from other states.  I am not sure that would translate to an EAD expedite in the absence of a job offer.  In other words, I have never seen an EAD expedite approved based on intended job type alone.
