Hi, 

 

Has anyone been able to find information on how my fiancé can get his SSN with all of the offices closed? I am trying to navigate the https://www.ssa.gov/ website to see if they are offering a way to do it online but I'm not seeing anything. We are going to pick up our marriage license tomorrow but I believe he will need a SSN in order to be added to my health insurance.

Not true . . . but you will need to be married.

You have to do it in person.

 

Unfortunately you're kinda stuck for now.

August 6, 2021 N-400 submitted by mail

September 7, 2021 I-751 Interview, Sept 8 Approved and Card Being Produced

October 21, 2021 N-400 Biometrics Completed  

November 30,2021  Interview, Approval and Oath

December 10, 2021 US Passport Issued

August 12, 2022 PHL Dual Nationality Re-established & Passport Approved 

April 6,2023 Legally Separated - Oh well

January 28, 2014: Production of new Green Card ordered

February 3, 2014: New Green Card received; done with USCIS until fall of 2023*

December 18, 2023:  Filed I-90 to renew Green Card

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

Agree with @Paul & Mary you don't need the SS number to enroll in the health insurance ( Proof of marriage for sure, but even then they usually give you 30 days to prove that, maybe longer with the current issues). The SS office requires an in person visit as stated, but I am sure they are working on something and should know in a few weeks from now. When I added my wife to my employer health insurance they did it same day over the phone the day after we got married, and I scanned and emailed them a copy of our marriage certificate a few days later, but she was on and able to use the benefits the next day with no issues. I was picking up a prescription the next day, and I had them check if she was on my plan, and she came right up as authorized the next day after I added her, card took a week or so to show up.
