We did a video call back home this morning to wish his mum a happy mother's day. She's on the mend from a bad cold that we were worried was you-know-what at first, so we are all very thankful it was nothing much in the end. She took the opportunity to order him home again, which of course isn't happening but it was worth a shot for her I think! We got to hear all about people who are travelling up from Glasgow and points further south to come hunker down in caravans in the Highlands and somehow wait it all out, and how the people who live up there are not thrilled about it. Her boyfriend has shut up his own home in town and come out to live with her while this is happening, so now she has a new slave to wait on her hand and foot. Oh, did I say slave? I meant boyfriend. Really I did. :P

Also his ex-wife liked the Apple Watch his six-year-old daughter "gave" her apparently. I kept quiet and said nothing.

Apple Watch, wow things have got expensive.

Hints were dropped and then delivered by small and cute child. I usually take my mom out for brunch with my sister and she has put a limit on spending on any gifts at $75, which she feels uncomfortable about.

Sometimes a cat is a better bedfellow than a man, the snoring is usually quieter.

Those kind typically don't make the best wives, I've noticed.

I said sometimes. Even the best of wives need a break occasionally.

I made wholemeal bread and mayonnaise from scratch today, so I think I did pretty well. I also fetched two beers. I might ask for the night off.

That is completely wrong pie logic.  Does Winnie-The-Pooh not eat honey?

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case -- coincidence?

You're under quota, so get back to it, :bonk: LL ma'am!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

No beers until 6:30pm. That's the rule he set for me to enforce, so I enforce it. Someone has to be bad cop around here when it comes to making sure work gets done in the home. At first it was me pestering him because of the novelty of having him home all day, now it's him pestering me in the middle of the day, wandering out of his home office and flumping down on the couch to watch the news or a movie (caught him watching Hot Fuzz this afternoon when I came back from an errand). Occasionally I’ll get a request for a cup of tea sent to me via Google Hangouts, but mostly he’ll stroll out and waft into the kitchen to inspect our fridge. I point out that he now has a mini-fridge in his office that is stocked with healthy goodies like homemade hummus and cut up cauliflower and broccoli, yogurts, etc. There's even some junky stuff like onion dip for potato chips so don't feel too sad for him. But when I mention that there's plenty in the small one, he says that sometimes things magically appear in the big one that are different (and therefore better, I guess).

Also, um, requests for afternoon servings of pie. No pie until after work is done. Bad cop enforces the rules. 👮‍♀️

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.
