So I actually called marketplace and they told me they do not sell comprehensive insurances for those who are applying for AOS, only if you have a green card. Now I am confused.

Don't call them, call a helper agent.

YMMV

Nonsense,  I was able to get full coverage insurance for my wife within 30 days of her arrival and almost a year prior to her green card.

Do you mind sharing which insurance company? Or how?

My stepson (K-1 entry, now married) need to have insurance ASAP (virus concerns) but his wife's insurance won't add him without a SSN. He already applied but you know how long it takes.

We want him to have insurance now, any help is greatly appreciated.

SSN is not required his spouse needs to kick it up the line until she gets to somebody who knows what they are doing. Would have been much easier if a SSN had been obtained after entry.

They really are not budging. Who should we ask to talk to?

He did, two days after entry. He got married after 5 days after entry. No SSN yet SSA said 4 weeks. Is there a way to check status of the actual SSN (not SAVE; SAVE says returned to agency).

I would go to the next level of where you are currently stuck.

What worked for me and this was accidental, when I applied for mine I was told the same sort of thing, card would be mailed but was asked if I wanted to know the number and they wrote it down on a scrap of paper and gave it to me. Now I applied a week or so after entry and did not have an issue with not being in the system.

How does the marketplace work for K1s? My stepson was k1 now married needing insurance. His wife has insurance but having trouble adding him. Now considering other insurance. Need help, thanks

K1s aren't eligible,  adjustment of status applicants are.

What is the issue adding to spouses insurance?

Does that mean those who already submitted the AOS forms? He is holding off on that because of the i944, they want to be able to answer the insurance question with a yes

They won't add him without a SSN. He applied a few days after entry, before marriage, SSA said 4 weeks. We want him to have insurance ASAP esp. with the virus going around and also to be ae to submit AOS soon.

SSN is not necessary to get health insurance in the US.  All that is needed is full name and date of birth, plus a copy of our Brazilian marriage certificate and English translation.  I added my husband to my US health insurance when he was still living in Brazil with no visa, no SSN, no ITIN, nothing but name and date of birth.  It can be done if you work with HR.

Thank you. Yes I know it's worked for some. Should they just keep pushing until they find someone who will let them? The people they talked to so far are adamant about the SSN

Sorry? Is that possible? If so, how? Thanks.

For example all 0's, all 9's.
