I voted 'sometimes it turns out that way' ... I have a good friend who is married to a Brit. My father had been dating a woman from Vietnam (although they have since broken up). I can't think of any other friends or family right now who are dating/married to non-USC's. When I was in college though, I definitely had more friends who dated non-USCs (or were non-USCs)!

Well I do have a friend married to a Dutch man and who lives in Holland. A friend/colleague of mine is Australian and married to an American. And I have another friend who is marrying an Egyptian and dealing with the immigration headache right now. But that's it. Most people wonder why I couldn't find someone American. DUH. Like I had a choice in who I fell in love with :)

Not mine...most of mine are already married but if they weren't I can't see them dating a foreigner. In some ways my dating and marrying a foreigner has made me an oddity among my few friends...but I've always been the odd one. :)

Most of my hubby's friends are/were also in the military so it's a normal thing to date someone from another country. I can't vote tho.

Many of my friends are in graduate school or travelled the world broadly, so there's a fair number dating each other, which means at some point I expect they'll need a l'il K-1 help.

I can't say I really understand the question, except that I know that I don't have any USC friends who are particularly averse to dating someone who isn't a USC.

It was a hard one to answer...in Mexico I have very few USC friends. My two USC friends have dual nationality, and both consider themselves more Mexican than American, so I don't know how to figure that one out.

And here I'm surrounded by people who have either dated non-USCs or are currently married to people with Green Cards. And I also have good relationships with people living illegally here. And at my other job I mostly come across children of permanent residents, first generation immigrants, and entire families who have immigrated here, either legally or illegally, many of whom have refugee status. And then there are my newfound internet friends I've met through this process, who naturally are with non USCs.

Come to think of it, I guess I spend more time with non-USCs in general.

Sorry that the question isn't too clear.

Most of my friends are non-USC or are USCs born in other countries, so it's hard for me to answer it myself - but I was curious about the rest of you.

Of my American friends, I'd say that they are similar to me and have friends/relationships with non-USCs. This is not the case in my family though - by far. I'm the first to even date someone of a different country (culture) than my extended family.

I'm an anthropolist and tend to spend my time with people like me ;).
