Why wouldn't I post it? This is what happens when people start doing stupid s....

He did not take the drug(s) that are showing promise.  He took fish aquarium cleaner.  Might as well have posted the link about the guy who swallowed Drano to tame his ulcer.

You could have at least prefaced the post... lol

I posted an article and link per the TOS. There isn't really anything to preface. Chloroquine phosphate is an antimalarial drug. One that is easily toxic when you try to take it at home in unknown amounts.

If you "tout" an antimalarial drug, as the topic title says, panicked people may end up doing stupid things with that information, including poisoning themselves.

Kind of, sort of.  Except getting it from a pharmacy and not from a bottle of cleaner may have had different effects, eh?  Also, the article is misleading (not your fault, but I KNOW that you know the difference very well, unlike some of our vapid posters) that what he took WAS NOT what Trump touted.

Quote

A man died after ingesting an additive used to clean fish tanks — the pharmaceutical drug version of which has been touted by President Trump as a potential coronavirus cure.

Within 30 minutes of taking chloroquine phosphate, the man in his 60s experienced “immediate effects” and had to be admitted to a nearby Banner Health hospital, the medical system in Arizona said in a press release Monday.

vs.

hydroxychloroquine or other prescription antimalarials.

You actually started a topic linking to an article titled "Trump touts anti-malaria drug to treat COVID-19". I don't see "hydroxychloroquine" in the title of many of these articles. So people are getting confused and panicked and doing stupid things. It is worth pointing that out before the next person does it.

Buddy, I like hashing things out with you, I know you mean well and are a smart guy, but there is more to an article than the headline, since the media is usually hyping SOMETHING up, regardless of the slant.

From a link in the OP:

Quote

However, treatment with lopinavir 400 mg; ritonavir 100 mg (2 tablets by mouth twice daily) or chloroquine (500 mg by mouth twice daily) should be considered for use in older patients or patients with under underlying conditions and serious symptoms. If chloroquine is unavailable, they recommend considering use of hydroxychloroquine (400 mg by mouth once daily). Use of ribavirin and interferon were not recommended as first-line treatments because of the risk for side effects; however, use of these medications may be considered if treatment with lopinavir; ritonavir, chloroquine, or hydroxychloroquine are ineffective.

Never once, ever, have I seen that Trump, or anyone else, has suggested using aquarium cleaner, drinking chlorine bleach, Drano, or anything like what that idiot in your story did.  At the risk of coming across harshly, he did what he did, and got his Darwin Award.

I think you are getting too hypersensitive with your constant need to defend anything that has a reference to Trump doing anything.

I'm saying people are doing stupid things because they are seeing headlines about anti-malaria drugs being a cure for Coronavirus. I didn't say that is Trumps fault.

Ahhh, I get you now.  But see, I don't just look at a link, see the author, and summarily dismiss it.  I actually read it, then make my own judgment based on my personal beliefs bounced off the written words.
