Suppose so... and no one will mostly know any better I guess. A lady in MD certainly just recently died after being given these medications, it had no effect... but I wonder if perhaps she had been given some of those anti-virals, would have saved her life. Just saw a recent post from a doctor that had a patient on a vent for about a week that finally came off of it and is recovering. He also received the drug, but the doctor really isn't confident that it had an effect on them in any way that was helpful. 

 

I'm certainly not saying that incorporating vitamin therapy into treatments isn't of some benefit either. A lot of elderly people are going to be deficient in B12 and D anyway even before this virus shreds their body to pieces. But for now what we are doing is experimenting on dying people and there is no hard evidence it works.

I don’t think it has anything to do with that.  Trump is an optimist by nature, he just imploded a pretty decent economy, he wants to have some form of hope.  The country will not endure much more of this.

For the record, I'm not saying I have anything against giving it to people. My issue is with acting like Trump is the source on this(for better or worse, that includes the MSM), when that's simply not the case. He's just the kiss and teller, is all.

Precisely.  It's not like Trump is on the front lines administering drugs, nor is he researching their efficacy.  He is simply repeating what he was told.  And if it turns out to be wrong, or even just having no effect on the illness, he will be crucified for it.  And if it turns out to have positive results (well, it already has, in hundreds of patients), then he will likely be crucified for not pushing it harder.

   Both hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin have anti-inflammatory effects. I suspect that is what lead the first groups of physicians to try them. I have seen research exploring how they may inhibit the cytokine storm inflammatory response as a possible mechanism of action. I guess the same thing that makes hydroxychloroquine effective for other inflammatory diseases. 

 

   I still don't see anything to indicate they are effective for severe cases of Covid-19,  I suspect because much of the damage is already done at that point.

I think they said the sooner you start on them the better the outcome seems to be. Indeed sometimes it's too late

That is the other issue that seems to be changing.  As Yuna said people are going to the hospital too late because many were turned away, now I a hearing some reports where they are saying come earlier, at least here in MI.

Learned just today that the Texas Board of Pharmacy prohibits retail pharmacists from dispensing hydroxychloroquine for off-label use, such as for this virus.  Azithromycin needs a diagnosis code before it can be dispensed.

 

I don't know whether this affects hospital doctors/pharmacists, too.
