I wasn't pointing to you, really.  Glad you recognize there could be problems without expanding production, if the treatment proves to be useful in more than anecdotal cases.

I never said you did, but I didn't see any of what you said here, is why I asked.  

Expanding production will be simple, as this is a common drug.  We could probably have millions of doses in a week or two.

And it's not just anecdotal.  It has saved lives.  One doctor used it on 699 patients a week or two ago.  All lived.  More than one person was on their deathbed, and bounced back within 24 hours.  It is ONLY receiving pushback because the president talks about it.  Sad.

Why is everyone acting like Trump discovered hydroxychloroquine? The Chinese started experimenting with it long before he heard some rumor somewhere and ran to the media with it to try and seem smart. This whole thing is puzzling.

My understanding is they're actually giving people Amoxicillin with the chloroquine and it actually works better...supposedly..

  The biggest issue to me is just that overuse is leading to strains of bacteria that are resistant to everything, and we'll eventually have to deal with that becoming a significant cause of mortality when there is nothing left to treat these diseases with. Bacterial resistance would happen eventually with any antibiotic, but overuse and inappropriate use makes it happen exponentially faster.

That's why it's so important to always supplement with high quality probiotics imo.

Well, this is why no responsible president would take it upon themselves to yap about a drug they don't actually know anything about and tout it as some magic cure because they may have read about it in the news or heard about it in some briefing. Leave that to the medical professionals.

I think that is obvious.  We need something to get the country reopen.  There is no way we can wait until a vaccine is developed.

If your hypothetical grandmother and her Dr. don’t think it will work, don’t use it.  I don’t remember President Trump forcing anyone to try it regardless of what some idiots did with fish tank cleaner, and how the media portrayed that episode.

I'd take HCQ in a heartbeat if I thought I was dying from covid-19,  and so would everyone here who is nay-saying its effect on the virus.  

 

The president doesn't just make unilateral decisions in situations like this.  He's surrounded with a myriad of experts who are advising him.  I really don't see him standing up and talking about HCQ in a positive way if all the staff behind him didn't see the benefit as well.  He might blow one person's opinion off, or even a few; but ALL of them?
