Hard to say. Some studies showed that hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin combined had good results, but there were potential bad side effects. Others showed it had no real effect. I'm curious about the drug Fujifilm has got in trials that showed if given early enough was successful. But I also hope this does not produce a run on these drugs... of course one is a critical antibiotic that we take for granted these days and the other is very helpful for lupus patients.

I took chloroquine while overseas many years ago.  The only thing I remember about it was it made me rather sick to my stomach.

 

Sure hope it can help with this virus.

My wife is actually on it regularly. I don't see it affecting the prescription side of things much(since people won't be provided those out of fear of corona), but I hear over the counter it's already out of stock for the most part

I'm assuming you mean for years, as in back in 2005?  Wasn't really approved for use, but it has resurfaced just recently as a possibility against cover-19.  I believe the French used it again on March 16th.

Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine are also among four treatments being tested in an international clinical trial announced Wednesday by the World Health Organization.

  Looks like it doesn't help with the most severe cases. Seems analogous to tamiflu - take it early enough and you might get over the illness quicker, but  doesn't work well if you start taking it after your symptoms have already progressed.
