Hi, and thanks for checking this topic out. Please answer the quick poll!

My K-1 fiancée will arrive in the US in August. We plan to marry in early September and then honeymoon (several months later) in Europe. I know to file AOS right after the wedding. Can I also file the I-131 at the same time? What are potential problems with having a honeymoon overseas?

Thank you for any help you can give.

Met in China December 2005

engaged July 2006

Applied I-129 September 17, 2006

K-1 visa received 8/1/07

married 9/8/07

AOS application 9/17/07

AOS receipt 9/29/07

AP received 11/13/07

Any Harbin people out there...especially in Texas?

Two things to consider.

AP (I-131) can take up to 90 days to get, and you WILL need to get a visa for any country your spouse will travel too. China does not have waiver programs with most countries in the world so visas will be needed to visit any of them.

You can file for AOS, and AP together, and after July 29 the higher fee will include AP, and EAD as part of that $1010 price.

I always like to say you worked so hard to get your fiancee to the USA why not visit places in the USA for a honeymoon? Your fiancee is immigrating to the USA and probably would want to see more of the USA.

I thought I answered this one the other day?

We had our pre-honeymoon in Rio de Janeiro (the same place my husband's K1 interview was). It is an extremely gorgeous city - and we hadn't seen each other in 8 months, so it definetly was a honeymoon ;):D

It was romantic and wonderful.....it just happened before we got married (L)

Honeymoon? Money doesn't grow on trees. With all the expenses with the K1 and the trips and future expenses with the AOS we considered our honeymoon the week we spent in Rio de Janeiro previous to the interview.

We spent a couple of days at Casa Monica in St Augustine, FL to commemorate our wedding at a civil ceremony last November, but we didn't consider that our honeymoon.

Following our religious ceremony in February we accompanied family to St Pete's and Ft Lauderdale while they were here, so that wasn't a honeymoon.

In April we went to Mexico for my cousin's wedding with all the family so that wasn't a honeymoon.

My idea of a honeymoon is to go to Ladera in St Lucia BY OURSELVES. But I'm sure something else will come up to force us to have another non-honeymoon with the family. Maybe one day we'll get there.

Due to time constraints with my husband's new job, we had a four day weekend honeymoon in a cabin in Beaver Creek, Arkansas. It was really nice and relaxing. Someday we'll have the big fancy schmancy honeymoon overseas. :)

We just went away for the weekend (within the US, about a four-hour drive from here) after we got married, although I'm not sure I'd describe it as a honeymoon as such, it was just us going away for the weekend together! My husband doesn't get that much leave from his job, so we wanted to save what days he does have left until later in the year... I'd also agree with Nessa that spending money on a honeymoon felt a bit unnecessary to us, after all the other associated expenses that have come with this - not to mention the fact that just being together in the same place (our home!) at last is honeymoon enough for me (and him), neither of us feel any need or desire to be anywhere else right now! I think instead of a 'proper' honeymoon, a few inexpensive weekends away here and there within the US will be perfect - I've just moved to this huge country, I can't wait to see more of it with my husband! :)

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

We had our *real* wedding in the US Virgin Islands, so we stayed a few days after the ceremony and after our guests left as our honeymoon. Nice tropical atmosphere (if that's your pleasure) and no problems with immigration, just an admonition to not leave the country before hubby got the GC.
