Hello,

I noticed that petitioners usually sent the "NVC expedite request" almost immediately after NVC issues the case number; but before NVC gets to waste a lot of the applicant's time by collecting documents and reviewing the case.

So in an approved NVC expedite request situation; NVC will simply send the case to the embassy which will take over the NVC's remaining role in collecting fees, financial, civil and supporting documents and reviewing them, in addition to setting up the interview date. Which will obviously saves the applicant few months of waiting.

But what if our case had already been DQ; can i still request NVC to expedites sending the DQ case to the embassy since it seems like NVC usually sleeps on the DQ cases for a couple of months before the embassy finally gets them and set up the interview date?

Thanx for reading and good luck to you all!

At this point it would be pretty much useless as they’re cancelling interviews left and right due to COVID. I’d sit back and wait for interview notification (will be months down the line).

Regardless to the current situation; can i (in normal situations) expedite an already DQ case with NVC in order to speedup the interview date?

Thank you for replying.

Did you call NVC to ask them or found their procedures list?

I’d imagine you’re in line to get interview assigned when they get to your case (by DQ date I presume) and they won’t be doing expedites as embassies have scaled down or canceled interviews for next 60-90 days.

Yes you can, in general, there's no problem requesting to be expedited when you're DQ, I did it. Good chance they will deny the request, depending on the embassy. But it won't hurt to try. :) I also seen some people request an expedite and they got an email saying it cannot be forwarded to the embassy due the covid-19 or whatever.

i called them twice before for other things and unfortunately their answers were not helpful at all. then i learnt that when you call NVC, your phone is answered  by a third party contractor which is why a lot of people have similar experiences with calling them like i did. i don't know how accurate this is; but from my experience (or lack of luck with  them); this made sense to me.

thanx for replying 🙂

so you requested an expedite when you were DQ? so what happened; did they approve it?

and if you don't mind asking; what was the reason for your expedite?

I filed for expedite on 2/27/2020 after paying and submitting all my fees and documents to NVC and on 3/17/2020 I received a email stating they approved my expedite and will contact me for interview. It doesn’t hurt to try 😊

great news that they approved your expedite request! it feels comforting that more people are getting approved for expedite processing; it gives us all hope.

if you don't mind me asking; what was the reason for your expedite request?

Thanx for your reply 🙂

They actually denied mine but I got my interview letter a few hours after I got denied. Medical reason for our child. And yes, I was DQ already.

That's really interesting; and was your request sent immediately after you were DQ?  or, Did you have to send the request because they were sitting on your DQ case for an unreasonable time?

i'm just trying to see if your request did move your case even if it was denied.  🙂

Good luck with your interview!

Thanx for your reply

What is the reason for your expedite?  Do you just feel the embassy or consulate is taking too long to schedule? Neither your profile or timeline https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=356440 is filled out so we don't know what embassy or consulate the beneficiary will interview in.  You aren't able to look up timelines similar to yours to get an idea if the wait is long or short on a normal basis.
