personally i would want them to use the latest filed tax returns to compute the amount... i already filed my taxes like a good citizen and it has my wife included on it, which the 2018 return doesnt.

 

the good news is that this will pay the taxes i owe for 2019 due to a temp increase in income from a second job i had and i would still have a good amount left over

My question:  Is this an automatic payment to everyone...or will people affected by job loss, etc.  have to apply for aid?

Registered Nurse- Retired- I practiced in the areas of Labor & Delivery, Home Health, Adolescent Psych, & Adult Psych.

IT Professional- Retired- Web Site Design, Hardware Maintenance, Compound Pharmacy Software Trainer, On-site go live support, Database Manager, App Designer.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Details are still being hammered out, so anything could happen.

The currently discussed and known plan has provisions for people who directly impacted by COVID-19. This includes people with the illness and those who are in quarantine due to it. This is meant (I'm assuming) to cover their wages lost during this time period.

There are also provisions for people who lost their employment due to COVID-19.

Then there's provisions for a stimulus package that puts money into people's hands now - directly impacted by COVID-19 or not. Details on this are the shakiest...including income thresholds, how much, etc.
