Anyone care to speculate about new border shut down

Hello,

I’m a Canadian currently waiting for my green card interview (if processing times are accurate, should be in the next few months as I filed in March 2019). I’m currently in Canada on AP visiting family. The Covid-19 situation has escalated quickly as I’m sure you all know. I planned on returning to my home in the US in the next week or so, but now they’ve actually gone ahead and closed the US-Canada border to all non-essential travel. Ok... so we don’t know how this whole thing is going to play out obviously. What if the border is shut down for months? Immigration can’t possibly hold being out of the country too long against me, can they? There’s nothing I can do about the border literally shutting down. Anyone care to speculate on how immigration will handle people being out of country for long periods during the pandemic?

Coming back while on I-485 pending adjustment is essential i believe.

I’m not a permanent resident though! I’m out of the US on AP.

Read the circled statement.
