Wondering if anyone has an interview coming up in Montreal to get a spousal greencard?

Our documents were accepted Feb 24th 2020 (our initial i-130 priority date was jan 7th 2019).

I cannot find any info about how long it takes for them to set an interview date beyond “60-90 days”.  i don't know if that time frame means how long it takes to set an interview date or if it is how long it takes to have the actual interview.

Aaand now —coronavirus!   Will then even be scheduling interviews?  How nice would it be if they would do a skype interview instead?!?  (Wishful thinking).  I live in BC so going across the continent is far from convenient.   Heck- even if the planes aren’t flying I will drive myself there.

I am currently self isolating in Washington State, USA with my husband just a short ferry ride to my Canadian home in BC.

Also in Washington state in isolation here....

If you are already here, is staying and adjusting status financially viable for you?

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Now a US citizen!

I work in canada and visit my husband on my days off so i am here all the time, just visiting.  Adjusting status is for greencard holders so I would be a violation of the US rules on immigration if I stayed.  Def do not want to screw anything up!

You're lucky you're already there. The borders are closed to US/Can travel now too. I wish my husband had stayed up here last week.

I don't think anyone really knows what's going to happen with interview scheduling. This is pretty unprecedented. It's a lot of "wait and see" and news changes by the hour.

Interview dates are being cancelled as of today. We won't know when they will begin to reschedule them. But, I'd prepare for a long wait for your interview. It was already taking 5 months without this, so tack on at least another couple of months most likely.

...we're all getting cancelled.

This will throw a monkeywrench in the stats tracking, for sure.

Much like the shutdown last year did.

Interviews were taking about 6 months to be booked after Case complete (dq).As you're already in the USA you can stay AND adjust if that is what you want without any violation.  We wouldnt suggest anything illegal to you.

I am not on any other visa though, just visiting like any other Canadian/ snowbird.  From what i understand, the adjustment of status is if you already have some other legitimate reason to have residency in the USA.   Not saying you would suggest something illegal, just that I don’t think that applies in my circumstance.  Wish it did!

The way i am understanding it is if you have family in the other country that is considered a legitimate reason to cross borders, as long as you are self isolating!

Canadians visit on a defacto B2 visa we just don't have to interview for it.

You have a spouse in the USA.

There is a pandemic.

You may not get an interview for a year or more since Montreal has cancelled interviews.

Pretty sure your circumstances have changed and you an change your mind.

I am in this same situation and looking into adjusting status now. Did you end up filing for AOS? I am isolating in Michigan with spouse and my employer has moved to essential services only so no one is allowed to be there anyway and I am afraid if I return there will be a lot of confusion around the border and travel and I won't be able to go back to my regular schedule of visiting on weekends!

Meant to come for a long weekend mid-March and ended up being here for 2 months! 😐

EDIT: Just realized we've been both posting on another post about this! disregard, haha!

Realized I had seen this person posting on a similar post so some of my post was obsolete!

So-- I finally got convinced that I CAN file for AOS.  So, that is what we will do.  We are nervous about it so are looking into hiring a lawyer of just getting someone to look over our forms.  Are you going to AOS?  We CAN- especially since my work (massage therapist) is going to be very spotty in a covid world.

last i've seen was that the consulates were looking to resume interviews starting in June. I am not sure whether this will be pushed back or not.

USCIS is supposed to open in June for interviews etc, not the embassies or consulates.
