An embassy friend at CDMX told me (most) American staff was given the option to return to the US for the foreseeable future.

This just makes the wait at CDJ even longer :(

Any idea if interviews scheduled for this month will receive a priority interview date once they do resume again?

My wife has her immigrant visa interview on the 30th. We haven't received a cancellation notice yet, but I don't see how they will open in the next two weeks, with the situation only worsening in the short term.

Sincere sympathies.

As soon as some normalcy resumes, they'll surely give priority to those who were "in line."

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Has anyone actually received a cancellation email yet? We have not (original appt March 30) and our appointment is still showing as active in the AIS portal.

I even called the AIS hotline yesterday and they said they are still waiting for official confirmation from the consulate, and at this time immigrant visa interviews are only cancelled if you receive a cancellation notice. He said showing up or not is at the applicants discretion and if we decide to not show up, they can reschedule us - but that would go through the online system and depend on availability.

I'm not sure that's even trustworthy information as the consulate has said clearly immigrant visa interviews are also cancelled. However my actual appointment has not been so far.

my wife also has her biometric appointment on Monday in Mexico City and I'm unsure if she is supposed to still go or not as the consulate also announced the closure of ASC services. But our appointment to do show is still showing and not cancelled.

We have yet to receive it a cancellation email (Appt April 2) However, her medical appointment was cancelled I guess due to the COVID-19 news. So I still have to see if she would still get  a medical exam scheduled if anything.

I did not, they just called her saying she had to reschedule when she got a new date a couple days ago. And thats how we first found out they were gonna suspend interviews.

I have not been able to get through to the consulate as of yet, but have talked to someone from the AIS support line, and they confirmed that appointments are cancelled until April 17th.

I asked about if our appointment would be officially cancelled and their answer didn't seem to indicate the consulate would be proactively cancelling appointments.

They recommended rescheduling but said there were no appointments available. They said we could also just not attend and call them to reschedule the next day, but it would also be based on availability of the online system.

Hopefully this is not true as it indicates they don't intend to give priority dates to applicants who had their interviews cancelled.

About a month ago I checked options for rescheduling to see if we could move the interview date up a week or two. Nothing was available until August/September.

Hopefully this doesn't push us back that far, we would need to take a new medical exam if so.

Damn I was hoping they were wrong. I was able to get a hold of the consulate at this number: (703) 249 4628. And I recently checked with them too about a later date but they said the earliest was August 3. I'm super bummed and don't know what to do. I just want my fiance here as fast as possible but I don't wanna wait until July when I was only 15 days away.

It's incredibly frustrating. Even worse our joint sponsor has complicated tax returns and needs extra time to get 2019 in. Same situation with myself.

We are concerned that rescheduling after April 15 will cause us to have to massively delay the process until we both have our 2019 returns in. Which it sounds like July/August might be long enough to do so.

I really do not want to wait until August. Under any circumstance. However, I really don't wanna risk just waiting to the interview date and rescheduling. I'm so mad.
