She doesn't think it's enough.. and to be fair it's not. Elderly and poor persons would get significantly less than $1200 that McConnell is proposing.

I thought she wanted to ensure means testing.

Not enough is better than zero.

Republicans giving "free" money and Democrats holding it up? That was the one thing on my bucket list that I didn't think I'd ever get to see.

The Apocalypse is here.

The problem is, it will NEVER be enough.  Think about it... if the government works on 25% of our income (average), how long can they hand out money, and still function?  They could never give enough to matter to anyone one sustained basis.

Also, the rules of the deal.mean that MANY people will be excluded from receiving it.

Sure and I quite agree. I'm not sure what would be very useful to most people to help though. At present my sister went from a job she had for over 30 years to a new one earlier this year. Stable career and her health insurance was soon to kick in... but now they are telling them no more surgeries and they can't see patients unless it's an emergency (of course every person is screaming down the phone saying it's urgent), one doctor is out due to probable exposure, and the other is older and doesn't want to take the risk to see patients right now. The remaining surgeons are trying to keep up with the influx, but they are talking about having to cut hours and lay people off. They can't make people work from home or pay them to sit home either. And so are millions of other Americans that have lost their jobs right now. That check isn't going to do squat, and I don't see a monthly check being sustainable for the long term (and I do believe this will be long term). My husband thankfully has a much more stable job, will be staggering work at the office between work from home, and those employees that are prevented from doing their jobs (like cafe people are being kept on and paid to do other jobs) and all employees will be paid if sick for the long term. My heart goes out to people, it's a crazy time and I just don't see such plans providing any helpful stability.
