Even if they do go back to work on a set date, they'd still have to get the WH's okay to start processing visa applications again.

Wow....you're so right. I was only waiting for the consulate to reopen that I didn't think about the whole picture.

maaan....my dream is getting crushed on again.

I wonder how long the consulate will hold my fiance's passport at that point then. 😥

Keep a positive mindset. I strongly believe I will see my fiance this year and I'm praying for August. No one can tell me different because we can't go through this without keeping hope alive. Don't let this crush your dreams.

If your case documentarliy qualifed and the nvc messages you that we will send ur case to embassy but now due to virus its closed is my case still gonna reach the embasssy or its on hold now?

I called the NVC last week to inquire about this because my case became documentarily qualified in February. They told me that the case was still at the NVC and that they cannot send the case to the embassy without an interview appointment date being set. So until the embassies open up I guess thats when the NVC will start to book interview dates and then they will send the case to the embassy. I hope this helps.

"The department’s overall plan to return diplomats to the field, obtained by Foreign Policy, makes clear that there’s no across-the-board timeline for reopening U.S. embassies and consulates abroad and that going back to a normal work routine depends on the individual country. Axios and other media outlets first reported on the plan. It divides recovery into four incremental phases—Phase 0, 1, 2, and 3—of bringing officials back to work, based on two-week blocks of monitoring downward trends in infection rates."

We were DQ on March 16th. Our case was stuck at NVC. Yesterday we emailed the embassy in my country with a formal request for our case to be expedited. At noon they replied that they were going to request our case to be sent from NVC and get back to us when they had our case. Later in the day NVC emailed that our request for expedite had been approved, that our case was now in transit on its way to the embassy and that the embassy would get in touch with us and give us an emergency interview appointment. So quick!

Our reasons for expedite were that the petitioner is living alone and is in a risk group for covid19, so he needs support for his health and well-being. Also, we provided a document which proves I'm living in a multi/generational family and therefore also at higher risk if I stay in my country.

After being stuck in Nebraska for a year and approaching 2 years since we sent in the petition, we are finally on the last stretch!

Don't wait for the embassies to open if you have a reason to ask for your case to be expedited!

Wow!! This is great news. I wish you guys the best and I hope all goes well. I wish i could do this but I dont know what reason could I use being that I am the petitioner who filed for my spouse to come live in the US and then where my husband lives their are only 23 active cases as of now. So im not sure if I would be allowed to even expedite it.

Again, even when they get to phase 3, as long as visa processing is suspended, that's not going to matter anyway.

We dont have to do anything we just have to wait for the embassies to open back up and then they will forward the case once they get an appointment date for you

pakistan has over 25,000 active cases and USA has over 1 million.  USA is going downward slope and pakistan is a bumpy road. They eased restriction on may 9, but embassy issued same statement that routine visa are still closed.
