I commend you for still trying. They don’t care. Even if you had a direct quote then they’ll employ Olympic levels of gymnastics to justify it. There have been plenty of things he said on camera that they react similarly to. Not in the least that this was a ‘dem hoax’, you don’t see them engaging with that anymore because even their gymnastics has its limits.

Personally I trust the German government more than the US government, more so with this administration.
 

I’d be careful if I were you with giving the acting Director of National Intelligence and the U.S. Ambassador to Germany credibility. If the Cheeto in Chief decides the man doesn’t fit his flavour of the month and ousts him in the future you’ll end up with one hell of a whiplash when you make that 180°

So folks on the Left and the media types the likes of Jim Acosta think for a minute that any vaccine development would not be shared globally?  I look at this more like the US has freed up the research funds, and this company already has a facility in the US, so why not offer them research money.  Was this the only company offered such funds?  Beyond that, short of a direct quote with an offer for them to leave their German facility, it is just hearsay.

  Best would be if it looks promising, just help fund it and hope they can develop it quickly and scale it up. Additional resources would help with that no matter where they come from or where the vaccine is developed.

 

 I have seen a lot of claims about how fast they can do these things. There is a biotech company in Colorado that claims to have a rapid test that  can give a preliminary COVID-19 result in 2 minutes. Given what we are dealing with,  I can't imagine the government wouldn't already be on top of these things and funding these companies if these claims are true.

Sounds like a plot from a James Bond movie. evil trump wants vaccine and only will let US use it. You would have to be special to believe that

Sounds very plausible, were it not for the fact that the company in question and the German government confirming that he didn't try to fund the research but to buy the company. 

 

But I'll be honest. I expected the MAGA people to shrug it off, go on about how smart of a move this is. How there's no amorality in this, America first etc. etc. So there's that, unless that's kept in the back pocket until there's no reasonable way of arguing the reliability of the sources anymore (e.g Trump himself starts bragging about it).

I am sure though with Trump there was some talk about creating jobs in their US lab that was probably taken the wrong way.  I have heard of a few stories of rapid diagnostic tests.  I hope these are being looked at by the CDC/FDA/NIAID smart people.
