Middle name discrepancy between passport and marriage certificate

Hi everyone,

My wife (US citizen) and I are finalising our I-130 petition for me (UK citizen). We are about to send off our form but have encountered something that we would be grateful for some advice on.

My wife's middle name in her birth certificate is spelt as "XYZ"; however, when she was growing up her mother would sometimes spell it as "XYZZ". The latter spelling ("XYZZ") made it onto her passport, and hence onto her UK biometric residence permit card. However, our US marriage certificate also has her middle name spelt as "XYZ" (per her birth certificate). We have used the spelling on her birth/marriage certificate to fill out my wife's details on the I-130 form, but have added the passport spelling into the "Other names used" box on page 2 if the I-130 form. My question is: has anyone else encountered issues with middle name discrepancies? The names are identical apart from an additional letter in her passport and BRP. We are thinking of adding in a brief letter explaining the discrepancy and also including a copy of my wife's birth certificate (in addition to her US passport page). Would be very grateful for anyone's advice.

Thanks!

She can use her birth certificate and other USA government issued photo ID to prove her USA citizenship. But she should get her passport replaced with her correct name.
