Hi all,

In order to save as much as we can we are looking into applying for electricity assistance since we would qualify. There is also a lower income internet plan we would like to switch to since my wife has been placed on unpaid leave. We aren't on any SNAP or any benefits at all and have been paying everything out of pocket, but since we are young and completely on our own without any family we want to be able to save as much as we can and take advantage of assistance programs that would help with that.

We have sent in the papers for adjustment of status along with an affidavit of support and I have my biometrics appointment coming up in just 9 days. I was wondering if us applying for any assistance would affect anything or make us seem like we will be a public charge when all we are trying to do is take advantage of these helpful programs to help with saving up. We will not apply for any of it if it will put us in a negative light when it comes time for the interview.
