Birth certificate of US citizen

Hi all

My interview was scheduled , among the documents they ask for : US spouse birth certificate. My husband applied for a long form but it will take more than a month to receive it , the short form doesn't take much time but we were told that the long form is the one the federal government asks for. . In case I can not have it before the interview time, is the US passport enough as a proof of citizenship or not.

Don't have the letter with me right now, but if I'm not mistaken there is a whole list of things they recommend you to bring. It's like a "catch all" just in case something is missing and they can say "we told you so" if you don't have it.

A passport should be fine as it shows citizenship where a birth certificate only proofs he was born here.

Worse case scenario, they will want to see the long form and you get to sent it in after the interview.

We used the short form for the entire journey and were never asked for the long form.

Yes they ask for all the original documents : marriage certificates, passport, green card  and the spouse birth certificate. I will take the short form in case I don't receive the long one on time. Thanks a lot.
