I-944 Part 3- Household income

Hi,

Filling out this new form, I am using only my income from 2019 (already filed taxes and got tax return).

I am saying "yes" to "Did you or your household member...file a Federal Tax Return?" under both my wife, the applicant, and myself, listed in the space below.

I'm also putting my income from last year under "Total income from tax return or Item 1 on W-2" under BOTH myself AND my wife, the applicant.

I filed as single because we married on Feb 1st, so my wife really hasn't filed a tax return in the US ever. But it says "...or your household member" so I'm assuming just my tax return/income for both of us is fine.

Is this correct?

Thanks

I have the exact same situation. Did you get that answer? I have been researching but this new i-944 process and instructions are not quite clear...

I think you can put your (the US citizen's/petitioner's) income in both spots. Only case where you might not put your own income under your foreign spouse's income is if they somehow have income filed under a US federal tax return for the most recent tax year (2019 as of now). It's hard to imagine such a situation though.

I put my mother-in-law's tax return for 2019 in there (she is a US Citizen) and my German tax return for 2019 as well and converted it into dollars. In the instructions it does say that you are supposed to fill in any tax return information also for foreign governments.
