And your point is?  Congratulations on being healthy? Too bad for the old and sick people?

I keep hearing rumors that some countries are not going to treat old folks like me......but I haven't seen any confirmation of that.........right now, I'm a pretty healthy old man......

in two weeks US will just be italy where doctors will make split second decision to save between a young under 50 person and an  over 70 person. Every time i walk on the street and i see a older person and i walk away to the other side . any one can be carrying the virus without knowing and the folks who are older deserve their chance to survive. after all some of them fought in world wars for this country and young millennial think they cant stay home

For everyone who says "this is being overblown" or "it's not happening to anyone I know or to me" PLEASE. We are still in the very earliest stages of the virus in this country. Please look at what is happening in Italy, which I keep reading is likely to be our closest analogue in how the virus spreads. If you understand even the basics of how things grow exponentially, you'll know that it looks like nothing-nothing-nothing-okay something-okay that's a bit more-that's worrying-that's alarming-oh holy $%!&!!!!

We are still in one of the "nothing" phases. "Okay something" is coming soon, and the other phases will come too, and fast, if we do nothing and please only ourselves. We can ALL do our part now to keep the risk of spread low. We are ALL in this together. We are a nation of individuals but we are also a nation. DO YOUR PART. We need to think of social distancing as a patriotic duty to protect us all as a nation. I love my country and I am willing as a civilian to do my part to help as many of my fellow Americans and others who live here or are caught here right now. What I can do is be sensible, take precautions, and avoid risks. We can all do these things, make a few sacrifices in the short term to prevent or limit misery and heartbreak.

I'm not a Chicken Little. But I am cautious and prudent. We would all do well with a little more caution and prudence right now, myself included.

Just chatted yesterday with a dear friend who is staying at one of our places in NYC. She is from Northern Italy.

She is also a cardiologist and head of the ER at a VA hospital in the city, not too far from the epicenter of the NY outbreak.

She says EVERYBODY she knows in the medical community and at hospitals is preparing for what they expect to be an onslaught.

So far, she is okay, and her parents in Northern Italy are okay, but they are scared to death.

The streets here in Tampa are real quiet. Real quiet. We have a few confirmed cases not too far from us too. No deaths yet, fortunately.

We are basically gonna just stay home, and wait it out for a few weeks. (I once stayed in my place in NYC for 3 months without leaving it. Was too cold outside, and had just arrived from Manila.)

Will order food, etc. online, if necessary, and make as few trips around town as possible.

We have that option...and are going to take it.

Hang in there, everybody.

Peace.

Why this for the profile pic?  Often in movies and on TV when they show Hawaii they show this beach/view. So, instead of doing Kauai or some other locale, we decided to do here, so that whenever some show shows Hawaii and this view, we will see where we were married.

By now everybody knows that the societal reaction to the  virus is worse than the virus itself. I took the OP's post as a rant out of frustration. When people are frustrated they respond similarly like the OP. The chance of dying is pretty low if you are a healthy individual. Yes, it would be nice to be able to spend this time with loved ones. But no government is going to risk others for that.

Take a look at the symptoms of the virus.

As you can see, you'd have worse symptoms from eating 2 week old sushi that was bought at a truck stop. But for now,  all we can do is wait in out.

Hey Guys i tomorow travel to USA from budapest stop in london i have cr1 approved in passport i am spouse of U.S. citizen i going be ok ?

Good for you.

Hope things go well.

Where else have you been recently? Only Hungary? What is the situation there?

Check with USCIS before traveling.

Things are very fluid/changeable so, no way to tell FOR SURE.

Maybe you will be quarantined in London or here. Maybe not (probably not, but who knows.)

Let us know what you learn.

And when you get to Miami, take good care too. The Atlantic coast of Florida has quite a few cases.

Best of luck and good health.

Sorry but this is a horrible advise and idea. You might get the Corona virus or you could spread the virus to others. Staying put at home and not spreading the contagion is the sane idea. Just see what Patient 31 did in South Korea.

I totally agree with you that he was giving a horrible and irresponsible advice. I'm a young healthy adult who likes to travel and currently live with no elderly people in my household. But I am simply putting all our travel plans on hold no matter how much cheaper the fare goes(and yes, they are already unrealistically cheap at this moment). This is the time we need to think about not only protecting ourselves but also protecting other people, especially the vulnerable groups, in our community. Schools are shutting down and businesses are asking employees to work from home to contain the spread of the virus, it could be all for nothing if people continue to roam around the country just to take advantage of the cheap airfares. Not to mention all the medical staff fighting in the frontline, please keep in mind that they aren't there risking their lives just so that you can go and have your dream vacations.

To describe the coronavirus is "no worse than the Flu" is simply not true. Calculation of the mortality rate for Covid-19 range between 2%-3.4%, it's approximately 20 times higher compare to the 0.1% death rate from the seasonal flu. Yes, you can argue that the actually number for the Covid-19 could fluctuate due to the people who are currently untested. But there's still so much to learn about this new virus including whether there will be any long term effects to those people who have recovered from this.

To quote from a friend who quoted this from a nurse friend of her, "If everything gets cancelled and you have to stay home and NOTHING HAPPENS, please try to remember: THAT'S THE POINT."

No one who dont have fever is tested

Maybe so far...but today is not tomorrow...and as mentioned...where else have you been, no where?

You asked - i going be ok ?

You are a spouse, so you are not banned. But what about what happens at the airport in London or here once you arrive?

By check with USCIS, I mean stayed as informed as you can, from official websites, reports, etc.

Not trying to be alarming...just responding to your "going to be ok", query.

I fully expect you will make it "here". But, things do happen.

To the people talking about this being nothing and traveling around the country - what about passing the virus on to the vulnerable people of this country?  I am 58 with asthma and COPD.  And no, I didn't get COPD from smoking.  I never smoked.  Don't know how I ended up with it.  But I have bad breathing days as it is.  I can't imagine what will happen if I am exposed to the virus.   And just imagine all the people in this country who are older, who have heart and lung problems, who are undergoing chemo, and many others.   I am appalled at the selfishness of some people.
