Zero charge

The great lie of every National Health Care system.. 'its free'.  LOL taxes much???

In the US they are free also.  State/local health clinics do it, for free.  And if you marry its also free under every health care plan.

Most people who are paying are not posting the cost of the vaccines they are getting.  So this is really a typical VJ 'I did it, but won't post any actual information that could help others'.

There is no great issue with getting a CS to transcribe, there is literally an ACTIVE tread about it on VJ.  Most places seem to charge about $30-$50.

So if you are paying significantly more than that for shots in a foreign country (and again, no one seems to be posting the costs) it's a point to consider.  I've already paid for (previous AOS) the BS 'health exam' (lol no, its a health SCREENING) and for the cost its a complete joke.  In Vietnam the 'exam'  is $260 PLUS if you pay for the shots.

I disagree. This is a highly localized issue. In some areas, finding a CS to do it is not much of a challenge. In other areas, it's a considerable hurdle.

There's an active thread on it BECAUSE it's not easy to find Civil Surgeons who will transcribe, especially for a reasonable cost.

If most did it, the thread would not be needed.

Vaccinations are absolutely not optional, I was told by the doc in Amsterdam that I would fail the exam if I didn't have all vaccinations on the list, it cost me a fortune over a few months, but it was the only way forward.

The (general case) recommendation that K-1 beneficiaries get all vaccinations done before their K-1 medical assumes that they can get things done for free or little cost at home. This is true for most countries.

There may be countries where that's not true, but even if you don't save money doing things that way, you can avoid the hassle of having to do a medical or get vaccinations transcribed during the AOS process, so I wouldn't delay getting them unless there's a medical reason to or they're very expensive.

I'm pretty sure it's true that the required vaccinations for immigration are required to be fully covered by compliant insurance plans, but not everyone is able to get their fiance(e)/spouse health insurance quickly, and as others have noted, finding a civil surgeon that will do a transcription rather than the full medical exam is not simple.

Canada is one country that the vaccines MUST be done or you will not get your medical at all. Some offices will give you the vaccines others do not and you need to get them done at the doctors or health unit. Fax them proof and then they will release the medical.

That sounds like another reason to have them done in your home country, if possible.

Some of the required vaccines (eg MMR) require multiple shots, so take a little longer to complete. I had most of them already, and did a couple of trips to my local NHS doctor's office to get the rest. Zero charge, zero days spent calling around for prices, and virtually zero hassle.

IIts all personal prefernce. I prefer calling around for 2 days and saving $500+.

Note,  although i said 2 days.. does not mean i spent 48 hours.  I spent at most  between 1-2 hours each day calling, one of these days was during a 6 hour drive.. so its not like I missed out on much.  The first civil surgeon I called was $150 to transcibe, of which i still would've saved money if I went with them.

It was not possible for her to have them done  and completed in Mexico in time for her interview... Of which she was also calling doctors in mexico  when we got the NOA2 of which majorty told her they couldnt due them due to her age. was one that said wed have to wait 8 months.

It is all personal preference and how each case is unique.

Yeah they were really strict here in the Netherlands, I still needed a flu shot, baring in mind I was an hour and a half by train to Amsterdam. Up and down I went, eventually got the flu shot, sent a scanned copy to the docs office in Amsterdam and I was good to go.
