Alright, so I am about to embark on the green card process for my wife.  We have been married for 6 months.  We are both living and working in Beijing.  She is not Chinese however, but an Egyptian national.  Our time frame for moving to the US would be fall 2020 (on or before 9/17, as our lease would end that day).  I know that DCF is no longer an option here and that I will have to mail to the lockbox in Dallas.  We would be interviewing in China.  Guangzhou actually, the Beijing embassy doesn't do interviews.

1.  Can I use my mothers mailing address (USA) and my current address (China) on the application form?

2.  Do they need originals of all birth certs, marriage license, etc?

3.  If I have a joint sponsor (which I will),  I mail that in with the I-130 and other forms?

4.  Has anyone else done third country application before that has any insight?

All in all I think this will take at least a year to get completed, but I am thinking 14 months might be closer.

Fall 2021?

I was under the impression you could no longer do DCF, as they shut down all the offices to do that.  Going forward that you have to send it all into the US.

The one thing you need to look at is how the Consulate looks at US Domicile seems like you have been gone a long time.

Ive been gone since September 2014, I use my moms address for all the banking and CC statements.  I use my dads address for tax filing.  Maybe I will gave my mom draw up a lease for me.

Answers:

  1. I don't see a reason why you shouldn't be able to do this
  2. No, only photocopies; originals not needed until interview.
  3. No
