It's typically more useful to get a hold of a tier 2 officer. The 'tier 1' so to say, are just contractors with limited visibility of your information. A tier 2 is an actual person from USCIS and they can actually see into your case file. It is advised to call early when you request a tier 2 though, waiting times can get up to 6.5 hours in my experience and the sooner you call the lower the waiting time.

How do you get through to a tier 2 officer? I called and requested but the guy who answered the phone would not transfer me. What should I say that would get me immediately transferred? Our I-751 has been processing for almost 3 years. This is ridiculous.

You request it? I've honestly never been refused. They typically ask what the reason is, they make note of that and then transfer you to the computer that sets up the callback. 

 

I do believe you need to do it before noon because after noon the tier 2 officers start calling out (at least that's what I've been told once).

I would definitely bring copies of  notices as evidences that necessary application was applied. Just in case. NG

Worst case scenario, couldn't you go to the next closest USCIS office that is open and get the stamp. They all have access to the same information. Just a thought. I don't see why that wouldn't work, make a vacation out of it. 

 

Come to think of it, flights are so cheap right now, fly to wherever you want. I'm booking round trip tickets on frontier airlines for under 20 dollars each. Just have to purchase at the counter in the airport. Even online they are still at 90% off.

How did it take so long? Is he also filing for N400? 

 

You can get stamp at nearby offices as well but at this point there's no urgent need to get the stamp. His status doesn't go away.

I think we just got in at an unlucky time when there was a huge backlog. He has both his N-400 and I-751 pending. I'm seeing there are still several other people from the same time period waiting as well.

Check out N400 Seattle thread. I'm also a combo filer. I was recently scheduled for interview after the long wait.

This is a great idea. The closest office is 5 hours away from us though and they have no close appointments (about the same dates as here in terms of availability). Our state is literally shutting down over Coronavirus now. Not sure it would matter if I went to the next closest office at this point. Our schools have been closed from now until 6+ weeks out, everyone is working from home, and it is only a matter of time before air travel is restricted from coronavirus hot zones (even in the US). I think in the time between now and the next available appointment, the chances of air travel restrictions and local federal offices shutting down is very high.

This is encouraging. I will go check that thread out. Is your I-751 also pending?

Yes. They sent me two separate letters. One is for I-751 and another is for N400. They will do a combo interview. My original interview date was 3/10. But it was missed due to office closure. They have recently rescheduled me to 3/24.

This is very encouraging. I'm a bit worried though as I checked your timeline and both your I-751 and N-400 were filed after my husband's.
