You may want to review the actual ruling. The ruling did not actually consider the anti discrimination aspect of the case, and allowed that similar cases may be heard in the future. The SC ruled that the Colorado labor board's hostility towards Jack Philips' religion violated his rights.

sounds like they did consider the anti discrimination in a way.....

Limited to how the Colorado civil rights commission handled the claim. They upheld the ruling that business owners must maintain equal access to goods and services. The specific case ruling was that the free exercise clause requires that Phillips' religious objection must be heard with neutrality and that the Colorado commission did not maintain that neutrality when hearing the case.

Here in GA cases are rising. 2 straight weeks in a row they have gone up. Not skyrocketing but over 5000 new cases last week. About a 1000 per week increase since the low at the end of the so called quarantine.

I agree you cant just shut the world down for ever, but  I don't think enough mandatory business practices were left in place with people enforcing them.  I got out yesterday and went to a  nearby small town peach packing shed, Fruit stands, people selling shrimp, old store selling BBQ. There was zero safe practices of any kind.

Hey @laylalex did you go to the beach this weekend? Did you make sure to only walk on the wet sand?

LOL, no. We're actually under the weather at the moment and have been limiting our outdoor activity. If we still have any symptoms tomorrow, we will go get tested. We're a bit better today but still not great. My temperature went up late last night and this morning was MUCH better, but now it's edging up again. Alex was doing worse than me but now is better than I am. I have a cough still.

I have been staying away from the beach anyway, even before we started feeling unwell. When I passed by the pier on a walk last week after the reopening it looked too busy. Pass.

There were some idiots who went to where that flea market is in Venice and had a mask-free demonstration today. Pretty sure they aren't local because they all have huge trucks and there is NO way you could park any of those on the street on the Westside. Not much information, just a video one of my friends pointed me to.

Huge trucks?

Yeah those people don't live anywhere near the Westside of LA or the OC. They are definitely from the IE for sure because the parking spots are bigger than in LA or the OC, and don't get me started on the parking decks.

We had a local ReOpen rally and I wanted to go but decided against it and I am glad I didn't go. There was only like 50 people there at most, and everyone who went was labeled a Nazi and a Fascist by the Liberal Left. Because supposedly we are all supposed to sit at home until there is a vaccine, forget the economy

I hope y'all are feeling better soon so you can go out to the ocean and have fun....

They are for the Westside! I would not want to park anything that large here. Once I helped someone move from the Valley to the Westside and I was driving the U-Haul truck. Why anyone thought that was a good idea is beyond me but I did it. I did it and it was NOT enjoyable, nor was the parking. Voldy said he was shocked I managed a vehicle of that specification on the freeway without a trail of carnage.

Oh yeah, they are 909 peeps for certain. Thank you for the well-wishes. :) If we do go for testing and get Q-tips shoved up our noses, I'll let you know how it goes.

The 2nd day I was in Pasadena with my big Penske Truck and a car carrier I ended up getting in a wreck. The guy ran in to me because I was on the Arroyo Pkwy when the lane I was in suddenly ended. Gosh I was so scared that I just gave him $100 and he went away happy. The biggest reasons I always hated going to the Westside and LA in general was that the parking spots are always so tight even for regular vehicles.

You should go and live in Corona or San Dimas because they have some nice developments there while still being somewhat close

Doesn't it make you wonder how someone that is wearing a mask and social distancing still gets sick, even if it is just a cold?

I think I know where you mean on the 110. There's actually some interesting history behind the 110 there -- it was the first freeway in the entire US (!!!), and as such it was designed for far fewer vehicles. So there are all those on-ramps from stop signs, and lanes merging down rapidly, etc. I have nightmares -- like literal nightmares -- that involve the Downtown 110/10/101 interchange where you're merging onto 110 North from the 10 East.

We solve the parking problem by having garage parking in the building. :P Also before all of everything happened here, we just walked everywhere -- I didn't even borrow the car until we were edging up on lockdown. And I assume that when this is over, we'll go back to that. One of the things we love about living here is NOT having to get in a car for everything, which I didn't enjoy in Pasadena, or in Burbank when I moved back there after it went tits up with Voldy. And he loves not having to drive here -- it's one thing to drive up the coast and another thing to get stuck in freeway traffic.

Because not everyone who is around me is doing the same thing? Not everyone is using hand sanitizer, or wearing face coverings, or washing their hands, or limiting their exposure to others. So when I go out because I have to -- supermarket, post office -- I run the risk of being infected by people who aren't doing the right things, even when I am. The social distancing and face coverings are to protect other people from you being an asymptomatic person and spreading it. It works better when everyone is doing it. It works less well when people are deciding that they don't have to.

I am kind of sad that you are using me feeling unwell to make this point. I truly hope it is only a cold, but I'm really not feeling great. I am doing my job right now by staying indoors and monitoring symptoms.

There is a new show on Showtime called "Penny Dreadful" that is set during the 30's which makes the construction of that freeway as a central part of the story. It's a pretty decent show.. The only time I have been legitimately scared going down the 110 was when I went to pick up my mom one rainy night at LAX. I was on the left hand lane driving and a car going northbound sprayed a ton of water on to my windshield and I was blind for like 2 frightful seconds.

I've seen some truly horrible wrecks on the 110. The speed limit is 55 there for a reason -- there are too many twists and people merging in from stop signs. It really isn't meant for people to do more than 70, imo.

LOL this is sounding like an episode of the Californians now.
