There is a chart on Ga Dept of Public health that shows a drop off, but there is also one that shows a increase

This was a map of the US where they had worked on various projections and come up with an average category of dates when each State could reasonably expect to be able to relax restriction, Colorado I recollect was in June, there were a couple that could go now.

His restaurant order mandates no more than 10 people per 500sqft. Several restaurants said. screw it and remained closed.

 

IMO, that's the way it SHOULD be.  Let the store owners determine if they are willing to take the risks or not.  As more stories begin rolling in of people having antibodies already, it will get better & sooner, I hope.  At least until covid hits again in November.

But we still need to do what we been doing. Most of which is common sense. 

 

What I saw in my local Lowes today was scary. On top of that, those nasty bathrooms.

I realize that data is a very fluid thing with this virus, but I'm curious why the NY death toll varies SO GREATLY???  It's almost like one site is trying to get us to believe something that isn't really happening.

That sounds pretty crazy, like people there aren't paying attention at all. I have to say people here have been pretty good about things overall, probably why based on that map above we're in the first threshold. Last few days we have like 2 cases per day.

Havent read all 79 pages of this thread so Im not sure if this has been discussed but this pandemic is bringing out the worst in some people. At least where I live it is. Our county is currently at war with both sides behaving shamefully. 

 

On one side are the resident property owners (residents) and the other side are the non-resident property owners (NRPO). FYI- We are on an island and have limited stores with a hospital that is nothing more then a triage center and the local economy is tourism based. Well when the pandemic started and people started being laid off from work one of the realty companies had the bright idea to run a promotion saying something like 'are you on a forced vacation from work? thats a great time to come take a vacation down here!!'  So Officials decided to restrict access (by putting sheriffs on the 3 bridge access points to check IDs) Only residents were allowed entry and those conducting valid business with a permit. Its a set up they have that they use during hurricanes so its nothing new. But this was before any states had stay at home orders. Well people flipped out. Mainly the NRPOs who felt  stay at home  means they can 'stay at home' at any property they own, and could not understand why they shouldnt travel from 'hot zones' to our island. The local FB groups exploded in hate. Vulgarity and threats like Ive never seen..People were threatening to come by boat. People snuck in hiding in car trunks. Someone posted an ad on craigslist offering rides across the bridge for a fee. NRPOs claimed it was unconstitutional to not be allowed to access their property. Demanded refunds of property taxes. Flat out said they have to come check on their property less it be robbed/vandalized by the local trash. A lawsuit was filed. 

 

Anyway, the first positive test result was someone from NY who entered before the restrictions. They came because someone in their family tested positive so they figured the best thing to do was travel here to quarantine. Apparently the way the testing system is set up is it records your result based on your ID- not where you actually are sick. (?? not sure how that helps track cases ??) So their test was technically linked to being a NY case. Then there was a second case. Also someone who got it out of the area and came here to quarantine. Presently the county reports 15 cases. 14 as recovered and one deceased. One of the cases they are including in the count because the person had an ID for here however they havent been in the county since late last year. Multiple infected were residents of a local nursing home. 

 

Now they are implementing the plan to lift the restrictions. People are going even crazier. Social media is full of people complaining. Some are worried about their upcoming vacation plans potentially being canceled where the locals express outrage about the employees (local residents) who have to go and clean rental houses between rentals. Typically one family will check out in the AM, someone will go vacuum and change the sheets, and then the next family comes around 2-3pm.  There is 0 toilet paper in any of the stores here. Limited amounts of meat and vegetables. Shelves are pretty empty and every time they stock something its gone with in the hour. 

 

Local businesses are divided. The owner of the kite/water activity store posted a letter in the local media urging officials to reopen because local merchants are losing so much income and he didnt want to see shops not be able to recover. Other businesses opposed this and said health is more important then profits. NRPOs have expressed that as soon as access is granted they are coming. Bringing entire extended family. Threats have been made that they are intentionally NOT going to follow precautions and 'spread the virus' to those who prevented them from coming earlier. Theres a mandatory must wear mask or face covering order in place now, it was announced along with reopening plans. Some residents have stated they intend to 'punch in the face' any NRPOs they see in public with no masks. I really wish I was making this up. 

 

Im not sure if any of this has reported in any capacity outside of our local news. I can say there was a regional story about how the governor of VA who owns a home here was spotted here even though VA has a stay at home order as well. Publicly the gov maintains he was not here. Personally I did not see him but the people who claim they did (and there are a lot of them) are all honest upstanding citizens so I really dont believe they would lie. 

 

Regardless our community has been divided and I honestly dont know what to expect next...
