But the cop was way out of line, not even letting Doc approach his wife. It was a check point, not a suspected narcotics stop

Social distancing is a serious thing.  ANY time a person gets out of their vehicle, they are a threat to the officers.  SOP in every state.

Should have mentioned that my uber driver said that most of his fares had been the same as mine.  Families in multiple cars where only one was let in.  They all did the same to beat the system.

Spent some time talking with a smart a__ cop.  Tried to point out that we are married and have the last name and same address, but....He gave me the "I went to detective school and..."  Bottom line is that I was OK to enter in a vehicle (with any occupants) but wife was not allowed to enter in a different vehicle.  What to do?  Sat there for a while, and then had to drive several mile before we could turn around.  While we drove my stepdaughter had a great idea.  We drove to Key Largo, just a few miles down the road, called for an uber ride, and I met my wife at a gas station on the other side of the checkpoint (about 15 miles up).  Got in the car and now I drove that one through the checkpoint showing the same documents and got waved through again.

 

Major hassle and wasted time and money but we got in.  

 

Great satisfaction in beating those SOBs.

What really worries me is if the dogs were social distancing and trained how to properly wear masks.

Read an article in the local paper about a new Executive Order here in FL regarding social distancing on the water.

"Effective immediately, all recreational boats must be at least 50 feet apart."  

 

Been out on the water the last two days but it is very windy.  Have only seen a few others out.  Should be nicer later in the week.  Been hanging out at a local picnic island with a sandy beach.  Water temp is nice at 83 degrees.  Sitting in the water with my toes in the sand and a beer in my hand.
