Some poor slob, raised his hand and said he had a question about the price of oil. Trump asked him what the price was and he didnt know. Trump destroyed him

I really don't think arguably "destroying press" should be part of a press conference though, especially in the middle of a pandemic.

I also dont think using this tragedy to further the political agenda of most of the mainstream press is good in the middle of a global pandemic.

Some of the questions are so clearly a political agenda its embarrassing.

Not saying Trump is not a  self bloviating jerk at times but it takes two to tango

Do you have any examples? I've only watched some of the briefings since the whole temporary unemployment thing is screwing with my sleep schedule, but I'm still in a completely different time zone.

The ones I did see just had some critical questions but nothing inherently political. I'm genuinely curious which ones are that clearly a political agenda.

If you want example hit the Guardian, New York Times, WaPo etc.

I was reading about CNN's ratings which have tanked, people can see what they are doing and apart from the most committed are not going to accept this in these current times.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Which gotcha attempts though? I know Trump's been labeling some questions as gotcha, but they seemed like pretty normal questions to me, especially compared to some of the deeper questions our government has been asked these last few weeks. Do you have any actual examples?

Those aren't examples, those are names of publications. He even attacked AP a few nights ago. :P

I see the worst offenders are specific reporters.  Jim Acosta says or asks something terrible almost daily.

What specific question though? That was the thing I was wondering. If there's one almost daily, a single example can't be that hard to find.

That first one is a simple request for clarification. A simple "of course he meant the nation, he simply misspoke." would've fixed that. He wouldn't even have to include the "misspoke" part if he didn't want to. That wasn't a gotcha.

I don't really see any others asked during the pressers on that page.

There was a time when journalists stuck to the issues. They did investigations, had facts and stuck to them.

Now we get major headlines such as Trump got 2 scoops of ice cream and everyone else got one. Trump fed the goldfish too much food  and Trump parked a truck in the way of his golf game.

My favorite was Trump took statue of MLK out of oval office, which was a blatantly false claim.

These were not bylines but major stories picked up by many news agencies.

There reporter today was quoting research on oil prices and had no idea what they were. Lazy soundbite journalism.  He deservedly got embarrassed.

Jim frequently misquotes Trump or takes quotes out of context and expects Trump to justify statements he never made.  For example:

“‘It will go away. Just stay calm. It will go away,’” said Mr. Acosta, citing snippets of Mr. Trump’s past comments on the contagion. “What do you say to Americans who believe that you’ve got this wrong?”

There were several this morning revolving around the "IG Report".  When Trump asked the reporter who the IG was, what was his or her name, they didn't even know.  More importantly (at least to me, is WHY, if the IG report found there to be a problem in late March, was it just released to the public today?  And why wasn't it addressed to government officials sooner?
