Maybe.  Look how many false positives there have been world-wide though.  Even in Korea, where I applaud their effort, they have had quite a few mistakes, from what I read.  And 63% from one religious sect... wow.

False positives are probably higher from having to rush he kits out and not doing as much validation testing as they normally would. I would expect that number to go down over time too.

At least in Korea, they have enough kits they produced themselves to test patients multiple times, and that will help to overcome the false positives. But they still exist.

You underestimate the general public. If 10% of the people fall for this, it would be a huge lead base. If 1% bought it would be huge. Tmof course it may turn many off. Its tacky and sleazy either way

i thought that was part and parcel for car salesmen...............

My numbers come from a legit "scientist" site.  It's not like I'm out here making up BS numbers all willy-nilly.  If anything, the percentages I present are likely lower, with respect to the unreliable denominator as Bill pointed out.

Then you should be able to give us the link.

I have, several times.  You were too busy posting "the sky is falling" links to notice, most likely.

Sky is falling= Gates Foundation, CDC, WHO, Mayo Clinic

And I seem to recall at least ONE of your links being a doomsday link from CNBC.  Probably more, it's hard to keep up.

I am cautiously optimistic after seeing our new hospital protocols for testing, treatment and isolation of patients in action today. Felt like everyone was on the same page for the first time and people actually know what to do and had answers. Sort of feels like we have a plan now.

Then I stopped in at Walmart on the way home just to get coffee filters. It could have just waited till my next shopping trip, but I really wanted to see what it looked like at the end of the day. Crazy. No meat, milk, eggs, paper towels, soap, bread, or frozen foods at all. Most canned food and jars gone. Still lots of fruit and vegetables. Seemed to be stuff like cookies, crackers, nuts and cereal, which I thought would be gone. In the middle of it all was a shelf full of hand sanitizer back in stock. The guys I talked to said 5AM was the best time to shop now. They are mostly restocked by then, but not a lot of customers yet.

Flattening A Pandemic's Curve: Why Staying Home Now Can Save Lives

March 13, 20207:21 PM ET

MARIA GODOY

.

As the coronavirus continues to spread in the U.S., more and more businesses are sending employees off to work from home. Public schools are closing, universities are holding classes online, major events are getting canceled and cultural institutions are shutting their doors. Even Disney World and Disneyland are set to close. The disruption of daily life for many Americans is real and significant — but so are the potential life-saving benefits.

It's all part of an effort to do what epidemiologists call flattening the curve of the pandemic. The idea is to increase social distancing in order to slow the spread of the virus, so that you don't get a huge spike in the number of people getting sick all at once. If that were to happen, there wouldn't be enough hospital beds or mechanical ventilators for everyone who needs them, and the U.S. hospital system would be overwhelmed. That's already happening in Italy.

I'm not sure if this has been posted elsewhere but this is some very good, commonsense, non-hysterical guidance: https://www.flattenthecurve.com/
